HUMBUG. I thought only forum moderators had yellow auras. Haha. I haven't been around much since the redesign. I don't know all the finer points of these things yet. I'm getting there. :P

As for the Duck Division having Bob's password, I find that somewhat hard to believe. If an admin had his account hacked, this site would have had something malicious happen if that was the case. It hasn't, ergo Bob and Newgrounds are both safe.

Sadly my last year hasn't been so interesting, mainly pretty new games with one or two classics thrown in. And I have to praise your writing skills, it sure makes a difference after spending most of my day reading legal bullshit written by arrogant lawyers.
Thanks for that. I thought my writing went off for a few games but I'm glad others thought I did fine. Also, that sucks to hear. :(
Same here. I first played it when I was only 7, lol. However, I didn't actually get into the franchise until 2 years later. Back then, my parents were reluctant to allow me and my sister to play the games because of the 15 rating. However, we kept asking and were eventually allowed to play them. Sure, we were too young at the time, but better that than Grand Theft Auto.My parents used to go nuts over what me and my brothers would watch on TV but I don't think they ever realised that some video games have age ratings.
Heh my parents were aware of age ratings in video games pretty much since when I started playing video games. Quite possibly before, though due to controversy over certain games in the 90's.
My mum gave my little brother a copy of the original GTA for his 9th birthday and nobody ever cared that I was playing games like Doom when I was 8. Frankly I think the 15 rating for the early Tomb Raider games was excessive anyway, I don't remember there being any content that would warrant a 15 rating.
Sometimes the age ratings make no sense and if the original game was re-rated, it would only be 12+. 15 was probably too much, most especially since that was the age rating for Doom. The violence in the original Tomb Raider doesn't look like much now but Doom still looks gory even if it's 16 years old.
Haha, you've certainly put me and my friend to shame and we're big fans of Tomb Raider, most especially the first three games and Anniversary. My friend has yet to play Legend and doesn't intend to until he plays through The Last Revelation, Chronicles and *gulp* Angel of Darkness.Maybe he should skip Angel of Darkness, it might destroy his will to play Legend. I remember being rather apprehensive about getting Legend for this reason until I found a copy dirt cheap on eBay.
His brother has tried so hard to get him to skip Angel of Darkness but no matter what happens, he's going to play through Angel of Darkness. ;_;
Neither of us haven't gone as far as to getting the handheld games or even the expansions. Well, except for The Lost Artefact that I got since I was desperate to perform the quad bike glitch myself. I wanted to make a video so there I was. However, after this Tomb Raider discussion, I'd love to get my hands on Unfinished Business very soon. :)I can't say anything about the handhelds, other than they look shit, but I'd strongly recommend all the expansions. If you already own PC copies of TR1 and TR2 you can download the expansion levels for both games from Tombraiders.net, which by the way is an awesome site where I've been getting all my Tomb Raider walkthroughs from since the very beginning.
I'll need to get the PC copies of the first two games but I'm willing to get them whenever I have the urge to play them again which should be soon considering all this Tomb Raider talk I've had here. Also, hearing that I need the physical copy of the two games gives me an idea. If any release of the games are accepted, I could get the Double Pack and be able to play the bonus levels as soon as I get them. However, for nostalgia sake, I'd like to play through the games themselves before the bonus levels.
As for Tombraiders.net, I recognise that site before from when I was looking into the Tomb Raider Level Editor. I was wanting to design just a small level but the program was complicated and I wasn't sure if it did work in the end. Maybe my old computer couldn't handle it due to its resolutions but I did follow the instructions carefully and I still couldn't make my desired level. :( I guess I could give it a try sometime soon to see if it works better the second time round.
As for the secrets, I've yet to find every secret on my own in Tomb Raider 3 but I did end up cheating to get all secrets just to see what the extra level is like. I've managed to find all the secrets in the first two games but what really annoyed me was that if you get all the secrets, you don't get any bonuses. OK, in the first game you at least got extra pickups but in the sequel, it was just picking up the secret items which don't give you anything. :( I feel for going through all that trouble to find every secret, you should be rewarded with at least something at the end, which is why I appreciated Tomb Raider 3's All Hallows level.Yeah this is a sore point for me too. The secrets in the first two games should definitely have given you a reward. I busted my arse going out of the way to find all those bastard things expecting some really cool bonus. You can imagine my disappointment when bugger all happened.
Yeah, I put the effort into getting all secrets myself, even making many attempts to get the timing perfect for the slope secret in St. Francis' Folly and there was no special reward for all of this. Although Unfinished Business was released two years after TR1, it would have been nice if for getting all secrets, you were rewarded with additional levels to play through. That's why when I got Anniversary, I was hoping they put in the Unfinished Business levels for those who missed out on it back then.
That's why whenever I play Tomb Raider 3, I ALWAYS play Nevada first so I can get the inventory loss out of the way much sooner. Also, if I played the other two first, that only means more trouble for anyone. My friend actually played Nevada last and he had such a hard time completing TR3 as a result. :(Exactly. The Nevada levels are hard enough as it is. I feel sorry for your friend.
Yeah, I felt sorry for him too but at least he's beaten the game and now it's seeing how he does with The Last Revelation. If he's able to beat it thoroughly, I will be amazed as I always stop playing half-way through.
The setting in Egypt wasn't bad but I felt it was lacking a lot. And yeah, I did see parts of the levels in the second half of the game and there were a few too many pyramids. It should have been just the one like in the first game.I've been fascinated with Egypt since I was really young and the idea of setting the whole game there sounded like a great idea when I first heard about it, but after just finishing TR3 I was disappointed with the lack of colourful and varied environments.
Yeah, I had some fascination with Egypt myself when I was a kid. OK, maybe I'm not entirely into the mythologies and such but it makes a fantastic setting for these adventureous games/movies...And for children's card games. XP
At 8/9/09 12:02 PM, sushi13 wrote:At 8/6/09 09:46 AM, Bahamut wrote: Heh, maybe all this talk about Tomb Raider will get you to play the original again sometime soon. :) But yeah, they made a few mess ups in the remake, most especially the bonuses. Why go through all the trouble to beat the levels as quickly as possible when all you get is infinite ammo? :( As for the secrets, unlocking new costumes, artwork and character bio isn't bad and all, but really, the Unfinished Business levels as a bonus for obtaining all secrets would be truly rewarding. It's been a damn long time since I've played any of the old games and it's really about time I got them out and gave them another playthrough.
Although it's only been two years since I played through the trilogy, I feel it's time to give them another spin, most especially when I want to play the additional levels right now.
I will make more of an effort to stop being such an achievement whore and get my old games out again.
I'm not much of an achievement whore. Sure, I have a lot of medals on Newgrounds and have a fair amount of achievements on Steam, most especially Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead and a few other games but I don't put an extreme amount of effort into getting all of them. I mostly play these games for enjoyment sake. The achievements I come across are a nice bonus. :)
I would consider the 360 version, except I don't even have the console so that's out of the question for the time being. PC is the best bet for me right now, but again I'd like to play the DLC if I could.I can see how not having the required console might get in the way. Although if you're thinking of getting a new console I'd strongly suggest a 360 over a PS3. I'm not a fanboy, in fact I hate Microsofl and Sony equally, but I originally got both and the PS3 ended up being a hyper-expensive paperweight. I had the thing for 6 months before I finally sold it and got maybe around 20 hours of gaming use out of it, whereas in the average 6 months my 360 probably gets over 500 hours. If you don't want to get caught up in all the "console war" bullshit you could just get the PC version. The extra content will most likely be released on PC sooner or later, everything always is.
That's a fair opinion on both consoles. I'm glad to hear you've given both consoles a fair chance as that's what the majority fail at doing. I'm not a fanboy myself since the only console from the latest generation I have is the Wii and there are several things I hate about it.
Like I said, I'm willing to look into the other consoles, although I'm more likely to get a PS3 as not only have I been a Playstation supporter for over a decade now but there are several games I want for the console and getting it would save my family from getting a blu-ray player. They've considered getting a HDTV for a LOOOOONG time now and the most they've done is getting a small one for their room. I actually have the money to get both a HDTV and a PS3 but I want to check which is the best HDTV for my room as I know it'll still be ages before my parents even consider replacing the ancient TV in the living room.
I'll still keep the 360 in mind but I won't consider getting one until I find more than enough games for the console.
