Like Coop said, we should count them in 1,000's and maybe 5,555 points if you actually get that much. If it becomes really easy to get thousands of medal points, we'll just stick with 1,000, 5,000 and then 10,000's.

Heh, if loads more games have achievement features, it could be a piece of cake to reach 10,000 medal points. Imagine if medal points became another stat for the 2x10k pentalist (well, hexalist if you include medal points). O_O

I agree. Congratulating in thousands is the best. It seems to be hard to achieve 1,000, so it should count as a milestone.
