Ah, that sucks. Hopefully it isn't fucked up too bad.
Clutch cable, possibly an issue with the pedal box - we're talking £80 + VAT to get the cable sorted, so it's not the end of the world.

Then there are the saxons, who are not hard to understand, but their accent just sounds as if the people are generally stupid...
Ah, so Saxons are the Eurpoean equivalent of Hicks in America then?
Don't know how the typical Hick speaks, but I don't think it will sound as bad to my ears as the saxon accent.
*climbs to top of telephone pole* "Hay, ah cayan carll mah Marh from up heya. Hay Marh! Gayt owf the dayam roof!"
That's the best example I can give. That or Elliot Sadler, but you might only get that joke if you watch NASCAR :P

Futurama: Into The Wild Green Yonder is out tomorrow. :D I won't be getting it until friday though.
So this image will piss you off then?
So you got it before the release date as well as I did.
And I'll be watching it come lunch time, I suspect :P

Either I was too drunk last night or the last Futurama movie Into the Wild Green Yonder was a big letdown!
Say it ain't so, Meatbag!
I'm sorry, but it is so. The jokes were good, but the plot was bad.
Well, they can't always be perfect. Although Season 6 does suddenly look like it's going to be awesome!

I was more pissed off that I'd broken the car to be honest - I'm never heading down town to fetch my girlfriend with the mantra "back in 10 minutes" again.
Car must have been old.
Nah, I keep it in good working nick. Parts like this fail every now and again, from wear and tear. When you consider how many times you stress the clutch cable over its life, it does have to put up with a lot, so snapping after 8 years use isn't too much of a surprise. The car had 90,000 Miles+ useage from it as well.

Spoke to the mechanic himself, who thinks that it's the clutch cable that's gone
Yeah that would make more sense why the clutch won't come back up. At least that part is relatively cheap; labor on the other hand. :/
A best friend with a father in law in the car trade has always been a bonus to me ;)

So, I'm just wondering.... is it possible to level down at all? For any circumstances?
It used to be - not depositing experience, while the most experienced user did pushed up the ceilings for every other level. The higher a level you were, the bigger the penalty. Still, that's been solved now, as the site was redesigned and more levels have been added to take the pressure from the system.
The only real way to level down is to get the account deleted, stats reset or somesuch thing - usually by an admin.
