I think that might just be a regional thing - I havbe trouble understanding Cornish and Geordie accents, as when the locals get going, it's pretty much non-stop gibberish. Glaswegian is probably not helped by alcohol, though.

No one else in germany (except for bavarian people of course) can understand their accent, either. ^^
It gets worse the farther south you travel.
There are some other accents which are quite hard to understand even for native speakers, like the accent from the Saarland. But at least that sounds pretty funny.

Then there are the saxons, who are not hard to understand, but their accent just sounds as if the people are generally stupid...

Nah, it would be better to post it in a newspost and direct people there. Sort of like the FAQ. Or we could have it posted on NGLog since people often go there. It will look less spammy.

So anyway, I was driving down into town to fetch my girlfriend, as she's been to do a little shopping / socialising. I was hoping to get back quickly and get started with the update for the Responses list. Driving down the one back road about halfway between town and home, I put my foot on the clutch pedal to change gear, as usual. *Clunk* is an ominous sound whenever it happens to the car that you're driving in, but when I moved from 4th to 3rd gear, the car started bunny hopping, as if the clutch wasn't there. I lift my foot from the clutch pedal and find that it's stayed on the floor...

Guided the car to a stop, called for backup from the RAC and had to wait over an hour and a half while being desperate for a piss as well! Gladly, my girlfriend took a short cut across the park and met up with me some 25 minutes into the ordeal. Now I've got no car for about 5 days, while I wait for the mechanics to take the current one away and give me my working wheels back.
