Anyway, the main point is that once you're at my rank, you start to care more about your spot on the top 50 list than about how many points to the next rank. Ranks are 2000 apart, there's no sense in getting bent out of shape about individual points. It's more about who's ahead of you and behind you.
I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say here gfox, but I haven't been voting regularly (you must be able to tell by your stats) for the last 7 days and I'm still in 10th place by a comfortable 608 points (at last check). With this new system I'll easily snag 50 - 60 points a day (as opposed to 40) and that's fine by me. Well the last 10 days of my vacation awaits so one last check of the portal and I deposit for spancker. If you see him tell him I'm not impressed with his invisible man act.
All I was saying is that lower down when you're clustered together with hundreds of people, passing just one doesn't involve that much satisfaction. Look at Dogma's lists. I'm sure there are SOME people in the 51+ who relish those weeks when they pass like 22 people, but most probably are more intent on how many points they get and what rank they're at. Plus, when you can't SEE that passing on an official top 50 list, say, it's not quite as enjoyable (at least, it wasn't to me... then again, I never saw myself pass people on the 51+...)
Now, for me, it's no longer really about points anymore. Sure, 20,000 and 30,000 are attractive goals, but it's much more about the 8 people in front of me. Passing Stormwarden involves more work, more time, more effort, than passing most people in the 51+ does, and even though he's just one person to pass, the "air" is so thin up here that it makes it soooo sweet. As you say, you're not moving very fast now, but you're still comfortably in 10th place. People have to work really hard to pass you now, and once I did, DrMSM and Bila are the only possible others at the moment. That's just not the way it is further down the ranks.
So anyway, my point was that once you get up into the top 20, and especially the top 10, striving for the top of the PEOPLE is more important than getting as many points as you can. Unless you're fixit, of course. But even his robot brain would, I'm sure, if you asked him, admit that if forced to choose between passing Ramagi at 33,000 points and taking the #1 title or staying #2 for a long time, but having 40,000, even 50,000 points (but Ramagi has more)....
he'd HAVE to choose the former: passing her, period.

If Spancker doesn't come back, will your WI/HT club choose a new president?
If we do get a new leader, gfoxcook should be the leader, hands down.
I appreciate the vote of confidence, but first of all, spancker hasn't said he's left for good, so it's really quite immaterial at this point, and even if he does leave, this is the command structure he laid down (separate, apparently, from the membership #s that simply indicate time-of-joining seniority):
1st in command: spancker
2nd in command: recon
3rd in command: gfox
So of course, if he were to leave for good, or even stay on NG now and then but name a successor because he doesn't want to run things anymore, Recon's the man. Now, if Recon, for some reason wants to remain "Number One" (i.e. First Officer, a la Riker on ST:TNG), then I'd be happy to take over, but either way... the point is that when spancker's away, Recon or myself is around to run things in his absence, and that's the point of the above list he spelled out a month or so ago.
Now, if all three of us were missing in action... that's another matter. CHAOS WOULD REIGN!!! YESSS YESSSTsweghse... er... nevermind. O_O

I definitly agree. End of comment...
LOL! Not even in the club and you're telling us how to run it! But yeah, Gfox is the man for the job, but I'm not giving up on spancker yet.
Hey, give demon a break. He was just agreeing with Dobio (who IS in the club, after all), he didn't come up with the idea in the first place and tell us we should use his advice. #;-}>

Cool pic. Nice work. I dont mean to brag though but I have over 750 reviews. But Im glad your happy.
Wow, now I got 800. Thats cool. I wanna be a top reviewer so Im gonna write a lot of reviews again, as for responses for my reviews,(With Responses Only (143)). =D
ahhh, reviews and responses comparing, eh? I can play that:
reviews -- responses -- % reviews responded to -- name
800 -- 143 -- 17.875% -- demon0
500 -- 034 -- 06.800% -- jonthomson
307 -- 054 -- 17.590% -- _lightning_
097 -- 027 -- 27.835% -- gfoxcook
Clearly I win the response % battle. :::nods::: #;-}>
Amazingly close %s there between demon0 and lightning, too. Good competition.
And BTW, jon's % is a bit diluted by the fact that he is MADLY responding to SHITLOADS of old flash. Most of which were made by authors who probably don't even come to NG anymore, and if any of them do, they don't bother to respond to new reviews of their oldest flashes, I'd guess. Ah well. A few reviews of stuff in the 50 most recent should fix that problem, if he wants it fixed. #;-}>
Oh, and congrats to X on joining me up here at level 13.
And check it out:
I just passed 16161 b/p, and ramagi just passed 32323 b/p, and 16161+16162=32323. hee hee! #;-}>
