Wow, congrats to Mystboy for level 16. I mean, the higher levels are quite difficult to obtain, if I hear correctly. I myself got level 9 today.

Looks like I'll have to start EARNING my levels now. Level 10 needs over 1.5x as many points as the previous 9.

And I like the 200 vote rule - it allows the 56Kers to view some of the larger movies and get PROTECT points. I haven't gotten a protect point since Wade changed it so that you can't vote on an under judgment movie until it loads. (A brilliant idea, if you ask me. I hate people who vote 0 without viewing the movie.) I might get some protects now.

damn today sucked i got too school just on time and there i found out i was free that hour later that day when i was going home (it was really early 11.20 am) every thing was all good and stuff but at 11.25am by bicycle chain broke so had had too walk the hole way home (9km) so i got home ad 12.35am =( gongrats crono btw =P

Well, some people may get a few more points because they have more time to vote on movies before they pass out of judgement either to the graveyard or into the portal.

But the point is that you'll be sharing your point with more and more people now, and competition for climbing ranking MAY increase. One thing's for certain. A ton of people down in the sub-police ranks are going to start to erupt upwards. I wouldn't be surprised if Dogma ends up facing a huge amount of Police Captains in a few weeks. It's sorta like the baby boom of Newgrounds. #;-}>

Ever since I hit Captain (loved them double gold bars), Brigadier General has been my main motivation target. I mean, you've got the laurel wreath for some nice green added to the icon, adds some colour variety... and you've got the first General star, yeah... it kicks ass all around, that's for sure. Plus it means you're on the edge of achieving 20,000 point greatness.

I think it may be the rank where I really really really slow down, probably around the end of the year. Lt Col and Col are great ranks too, don't get me wrong, but in a month or two, they might start to be at the edge of the top 10 list, and I want to be safely away from the edge of that...

plus, like I said before, Brig. General's badge is so much cooler than Lt Col and Col. Not to be dissin' my new Lt Col badge, I love it so. :::kisses badge:::

well you will get more points out of it in the long run becouse every time you got too do some thing for like 10-15 minutes like walking the dog you'll normlly miss all those points of the movies you've missed but now a lot of those will be still under juded so you'll get those points too so that will mean that you WILL get more points =)

Even if you DO miss out on 10 blams a day because they go by so fast, for instance, under the new system, getting those 10 blam points is great, but you COULD have gotten them had you been faster (and you would have been one of only max 50 people to get them, instead of 1 of 200.. and what if those other 199 are within 100 points ahead of you, eh? Let's say I get 5% more blam/saves per day with the new system. Then I will save 5% time, and my VP will increase faster.

I totally understand you just wanting a bit more votes per day, that's cool. My point was just that you can already get them, it just takes more work the way it is now to get blams before they drop away.

The main reason I HAD 1000 more protects than blams was that I DID miss out on a lot of blams due to doing other things on the computer or watching TV or talking with my girlfriend, or posting here, or whatever. So it's nice to catch a few of those blams instead. But I already throw away a few blams every day to try and protect those entries that are borderline and somehow appeal to me.

Anyway, the main point is that once you're at my rank, you start to care more about your spot on the top 50 list than about how many points to the next rank. Ranks are 2000 apart, there's no sense in getting bent out of shape about individual points. It's more about who's ahead of you and behind you.

And I'd rather get 95 points in a day and only have 2 or 3 people at my back then get 100 points in a day and have 10 people scrambling at my back, ya see? #;-}>

Yep. We'll see how the competition goes, too. Perhaps this will bring back some long-dormant blammers and saviors, too.

Exactly. Those are the kind of people I partly meant to suggest, not just fixit. But one thing fixit and people who just stick on the portal for an hour a day have in common is that they singlemindedly get their points, and don't stop checking the portal, even for a minute.

This is an interesting discussion about NG goals. Time for me to add my $0.02 US. ^_^

First and primary of my goals on Newgrounds is to make a flash that wins at least one portal award, and hopefully gets at least 10,000 views.

Falling secondary to this is my B/P chase. I enjoy the little competition such as my chase of PZY, it's fun and I dig the military style of rankings. In a way the BP race is linked to my first pursuit of a famous movie, for with more voting power I can make a tiny impact on the rankings of my own movies and of those by others whom I like (or dislike) a lot.
My current aim is a gold badge of praporshchik, and I'll be satisfied by the time I reach lieutenant range, methinks. But like gfox says, the little interpersonal contests in the BP lists keep it fun even at the widely spaced high ranks, and chasing PZY is leading me at a faster pace toward Elite Guard officer status than I would if I were not chasing him.

Another goal of mine at NG is to be generally helpful in both the W/I? H/T? board and in reviews. There is a tiny bit of satisfaction in being helpful, and it also gets me a little more good regard and fame which helps in my first goal of a popular and well-liked movie. I recieved good votes and reviews for "Mega Force OP" from people who I was nice to in reviews of my own.

Last and least important goal is to eventually be a "weapon rank" in XP. XP is not really worht giving much thought since no extra effort will gain you any extra XP other than the daily deposit.

And there are my thoughts on that.

I would go at the same pace even if were not on my tail. If you speed up, there is no way I can catch you because of a little thing called "time".
But I am helping you for your goals, so I'm kinda glad. Like when a fast biker is front of you in a bike ride, following him gets you a higher pace.
I will countinue into the eternity for blamming and saving (maybe stop at highest possible rank). A rank is not enough!

I've got tons and tons (well, a few) of good ideas for flash movies. Only problem is I suck at flash, and I suck even more at drawing, especially on a computer. I could have had something done by now if I was better.

I try to be helpful here, but the general idiocy level is rising, as is the temptation to flame. I'm also trying to review as much as possible, especially the older good submissions. My long term aim here (if having long term aims on a website isn't incredibly sad) is to get in the top 10 reviewers list. Only about 900 to go, and #10 seems quite static. Don't think I'll ever catch wayne though.

Yeah, I just want a level that's somewhere near how long I've actually been on NG, rather than how much exp I have. Every day lowers the gap. l13 will be nice.
