I agree Joe. I'll tell you one thing, if the crap that's been hitting the portal continues I'll reach 10,000 blams in no time. The only exception to the rule (in my mind) are those freakin' Clock Crew movies. I've seen some serious garbage from them and somehow it manages to survive. If I can find it - I usually overwrite the old one with the new one. The old one MAY be on my other computer, but basically all the bars were green and vertical. Must have missed this post last night when ranting about the voting system again...

I agree with gfox, that's a cool sig you have there jonthomson. I like information that deals with statistics. I'd say that's one of the best non-animated BBS sigs currently on Newgrounds.

Cheers - it was only a 20 minute Paint job, if that... not including quickly loading up my review spreadsheet, resorting it and counting up. Weirdest. Glitch. Ever.

So I'm starting to watch Super Console Wars part one, I click play movie, then IE crashes on me, as it has been doing recently. Only the sound keeps playing. It's still playing now, regardless of the fact that I've closed down all IE windows, reloaded IE, reloaded SCW and am waiting at the play movie screen. I fear I must kill something - there's incessant Mario Kart music in the background for no apparent reason :-)

Everything about this site is done for the benefit of the authors. Go read some posts by Wade Fulp. You'll notice that in almost every thread he starts that concerns the portal and voting on movies (And also reviews of movies), he's concerned in making it a good experience for the authors to show their flashes within, to get feedback without being abused, etc. etc.

Critics, be they reviewers or blammers/saviors are only here at all because there is flash to view, after all, and therefore they are indeed the foundation.

Now, I think the balance is just about right, so... I just hope that further "tipping" towards the author isn't done. There's a fine line between protecting and coddling.

Ahhhh, cool... wow, your 7 number is probably the most impressive increase. Sure 5 has a higher increase, but it's your bell curve peak, so that's not that surprising.

I seem to find myself giving 7s quite often. I think it's because most good films I enjoy (And those are the ones I mostly review) get a 7 8 or 9 from me, even if they aren't that good, technically and I should be more critical. 6 just seems too low, probably because it's the typical "edge of failing" in grade school (60%).

428 -> 425 -> 423 -> 421 ->
then it gets sluggish, only 1 (or 0) down each day:
417 -> 416 -> 415 -> 413 -> 413 -> 412 -> 411 ->
but THEN it jumps down to:
402 -> 400 -> 397 ->
returns to only 1 per day:
396 -> 395 -> 394 -> 393 ->
and now it seems to be in a 2 per day relatively-quick phase:
391 -> 389

wheee. Getting into the exp top 200 is... not the fastest process on the planet.

I hate to admit it, but I might pull a RyoHahn and slow down once I get General. That last haul is so long it's almost not worth rushing it anymore, even if it is the last leg. We shall see...

Anywho, so a close fixit is enough of an incentive to try to jump him, eh? But what if Ramagi hasn't passed, say, 32,500 by the time you hit 30,000? Is that close enough to be tempted to go for #1 if fixit isn't already?
