Sure, they started really delving into American rock, folk, blues, etc. back in 1987 and 1988 with Joshua Tree and Rattle 'n' Hum, but that was just them expanding their musical range. They swerved right back into eurodance/eurorock with Achtung Baby, Zooropa, and POP in the 90s.

They are suppose to be one of the best bands live, and I still haven't seen them yet. Which is disappointing. But the niche they've fallen into is kinda like everyone likes them. And that is really what makes a band so great. Also they're music RAWKS :P

I heard a new album is coming out by the end of this year, and after that they´re gonna go on tour again in 2009 (heard they were coming to Rotterdam on the 10th of June ´09). So there´s your chance. Tickets are quite expensive though, about 130 euro´s :(
