A similar thing happened to me last week. One song I was listening to was called Black Night (by Stratovarius) and on shuffle mode, the next song was called Black Night (by Deep Purple), but a completely different song to the first one. Funny enough, I was thinking of listening to Deep Purple's Black Night at the time, but the MP3 Player did it for me on its own. :)

I only clap after a solo if it doesn't belong to a song, but if it's a "extra" that the band/the person who plays the solo does for the crowd (like, the mandatory drum solo at rock concerts).
