It was irritating, yes. I suspect, however, that once Pimp (or somebody else if he gives up) reaches level 60, we might be seeing another age of sliding level requirements. Who knows, though? Interesting. The thing is, you can't ignore it when someone reaches 10,000 posts - you HAVE to congratulate them. I thought that maybe we should only congratulate for the 10k then, but that would still promote spamming, perhaps even moreso as there's a higher target to reach, so we might as well just choose the lesser of two evils and congratulate for each 1,000.

I doubt it's going to happen again - the sliding requirements were gotten rid of for a reason.

And a good reason at that. The gap between levels was getting ridiculous, and the higher you got, the worse it was. It does, however, seem to imply in the FAQ that sliding level requirements will return:

"Levels 1 through 8 are static in that their level requirements and range remain fixed; each is 50 experience points apart. Levels 9 through 60 expand to even out the experience point differential between those levels. Because they change, their requirements and range cannot be accurately given. Levels serve no purpose except to increase the voting power in the Flash Portal and to indicate amount of experience. For this reason a higher level often commands a certain amount of respect.

Rumors that there can be only one Level 60 user are untrue. There can be any number of users at the highest level provided they all have an equal amount of experience points."

Maybe they've just neglected to change it, though. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It's not - we're not going to stop congratulating for posting achievements. There just seems to be a slight concern that congratulating users for getting a large amount of posts sends out the message that we advocate spamming and +1 posting on the BBS, which we obviously don't.

TheRevive - 100 posts is not an achievement as it's quite easy to get and takes no time what so ever. We count major numbers, like 1000s, quarters of 10000, etc. Also duplicate numbers, 666, 2222 ect, but only 500 & 666 posts are counted as an achievement before you reach 1000 posts.
