You might want to take a look at the FAQ

To get experience points you have to vote on 5 submissions in a day, once you've done that you will be allowed to deposit your experience points and you will recieve 10 points for doing so.

Once you've signed up and created a profile, there are no other ways to get experience points, which means you can only get 10 points a day.

Once you get so many experience points you will go up a level, look at this to see all the levels and how many points you currently need to reach each level.

Also use this to see how long it will take you to reach a certain level. It works by assuming that the current level 30 user and you deposit each day.

I've always wondered what things would be like if NG still had the old voting system in place. With the increasing number of submissions my guess is a permanent portal clog. :-P

What was the old voting system?

It all depended on two things Major-punk; how many votes the movie currently had and its consequent score. The submission had to be above 0.67 at 25 votes, 1.00 at 50 votes, and 1.50 at 75 votes for it to survive. Here's the kicker; only one person could get the blam point... and there was NO such thing as protection points. For example, if you were the 24th person to vote on a crap movie, you wouldn't get the point, but if you were the 25th person, you would. The Blam Club was the first group to carry out mass voting. Funny how they never took flak for it but that's another story. ^_~

*noddles* I was actually thinking of the song "If I had a hammer". ^.^ (Hmm, I wonder if there should be a NG version of that one - something along the lines of "If I was a blammer" or so... ^^)

Eh, well, jokes aside, it's a pretty sweet icon that just says "raw power". :) But not just that; unlike the other icons, which are mostly weapons, the hammer also is a symbol of blacksmithing, of forging and creation - and thus, ultimately, a symbol of purification, too, of cleansing, but also of growing. Rather philosophical, I guess, but that's the associations it evokes for me. :)

With most of the icons, you can't really do anything except whack people (well, that, and you can clean your ears with the level 23 one), but with the hammer, you can actually work on stuff. It seems like the most appropriate icon for NG to me really. :)

(Kinda reminds me of Lortzing, too: "Wenn Redlichkeit käme als Waffenschmied / Und schlüg' auf den Amboß, von Glut umsprüht"... :P)

OK, I'll stop already, and I'm not actually a fan of opera music, either. But I do like the hammer, and it certainly seems to say "don't mess with me", too. :)

I was only gone for a day, but I did lose internet connection yesterday because of some workers outside trying to fix a water leak in the front garden accidently cut the cable wires thinking it was a root. :S Good thing they managed to fix the cable today.

I've been burning the track on getting blams and saves this week. Thanks to the large amount of school-related work that I've been doing on the computer, the NG portal was always a click away.
