Secrets of the Ancients
2 - “Dark Plans”
It is said that a new age only begins when the end of the previous time is completed with a silence of some form. However, ages are only born to hide and forget the darkest truth that occurred in the times before.
The small group stared at one another as they discussed their plans, determined to obtain a definite resolve from tonight’s meeting.
“As you know,” said j00bie, a person present at the meeting, “We have attempted everything we know to try and bypass the codes at the strange doors at the city core.”
“Is that so?” said a member of Star Syndicate, with a single star badge pinned tightly on his black overwear. “You need to do better.”
“Shouldn’t we bring more people into this?” suggested a man named Guardian. He was the sole protector of the huge group. “I know a man named Regulus. He is loyal and a mysterious person. His aid would prove of a mighty benefit towards us.”
“Regulus you say?” said a man with seven stars on his top, “Very well then. Three, would you please get him for us.”
Another person with three stars on his clothing stood up and left the room. No one spoke, yet the board members occupied this time by taking notes into their laptops and papers by their side. It took less than a minute for the third man to bring back Regulus, a man in his twenties. He pulled a chair from thin air and indicated him to sit down. Regulus took note at the darkness of the room. There were no windows and the only lights were those that came from the laptop screens. It was as if the atmosphere was of a great evil.
“Now,” the seventh man said, “Guardian has told us of your loyalty towards the Star Syndicate. I trust him greatly, so I will trust you as well. Would you like to do a task for us?”
“What do you wish for me to do?” asked Regulus in an attempted calm tone. It was slightly rushed.
“You know the Creator of the city?” the sixth badge man asked. Regulus nodded as the sixth man continued, “We have been desperately trying to find out what the Ancient text at the city core means. We know that all of this man’s data and technology is within the core, but no one has been able to get through. So we will give you the task of learning Ancient.”
“I will do as you say,” Regulus kept a straight look, calm and determined, “May I ask you if there are any…hints to learn Ancient?”
“I will help you,” said j00bie. “You are aware of the Endless correct? Good. As you know, they are located at the Northern part of the city. Three buildings down is one of the secret Mafia buildings. If we set fire to it, we can cause a temporary diversion and this is where you, Regulus come in. In this time, everyone will try to help douse the burning building (as they do not know the Mafia operates there) and you will sneak into the Endless and take their supply of Ancient text translations. You won’t have much time and the Fifth shall supply you with a single supply of nano bots.”
“So the rumours of nano technology are true?” Regulus was very intrigued. Of course, know he knew what the Star Syndicate were up to. They wanted to find out what sort of technology the Creator kept secret in the core and most likely wanted to use it. Bahamut would be happy to hear of this.
“Very,” said the Fourth, glancing at the Fifth. “The technology is simple. Throw the component, blow it or crush it. Some of the robots go into the neuron receptor area of the brain, allowing you to command the nano bots as you wish. The bots are still in beta stage and only last for five minutes, but that is sufficient time for you to complete your mission.”
“Yes my lords,” said Regulus, standing up and bowing to the group. “I am sure j00bie can brief me out of the meeting for the exact time and such. I won’t fail you.”
And with that, Regulus left the room.
“So what do you think?” asked Guardian.
“I think he’ll cut it,” replied the Seventh. “I look forward to what we hold in store. I must admit the Creator was a truly great man indeed. Meeting dismissed.”
