It depends, I handpick the judges, they should be smart, have an extensive knowledge of music in two or more genres, that kind of thing.

Erkie, I'm submitting my application formally for BOTAP2 judge.

Qualifications: I think I'm quite knowledgeable about Trance, DNB, Techno, Hip hop, Rock, Jazz, Classical, and even some Folk. The last few genres being ones I don't submit to here on the AP, but are some genres that I listen to extensively. Let's see, intelligence? Whereas most rock music utilizes a basic 4/4 beat (though accented or syncopated in various ways), math rock frequently uses compound meters such as 7/8, 11/8, or 13/8, or features constantly changing meters based on various groupings of 2 and 3. This rhythmic complexity, seen as "mathematical" in character by many listeners and critics, is what gives the genre its name. Musically, math rock derives from other rock genres, including rock, heavy metal, or punk rock. Math rock often sounds familiar but somehow "off". It fits into those genres but is never a classic example.
