Nikoli here, we just restarted doing work again, and what better way to do so than to write an epic tale?
Soon I will have a flash animation about this, but let me get you up to speed.
Nikoli Bearcrusher and Kedall Stronghorse are two vikings. Not just any vikings, but vikings of a new age. After a glorious raid of wal-mart, the are forced to battle the mighty Walkarv-Marketta, and an epic battle ensues that will forever immortalize the two vikings as Demi-Gods. The Final crushing blow is delivered by Nikoli, as he plunges Walkarvs hands into his own jaw and rips his head appart. Nikoli is awarded the Sword of Walkarv Marketta.
With nothing left for them in their land, Nikoli and Kedall climb on their newly aquired motor cart horses and ride until they deem fit to stop. They ride through blistering winters and scowling deserts until something odd seems to come about. A storm on the horizon of the desert, and in the distance, a tank, and a pirate ship are seen. The storm seperates the two, and an epic battle ensues. Thus, I give you, The Greatest Story Never Told. Part 1, The Decent into Glorious Battle

That was a really ambitious effort, it took me by surprise. However, it's a little over-ambitious. You're attempting techniques and styles that are hard to emulate without the right equipment and technology. The end result sounds amateurish and sloppy. When listening to your favorite performers and artists, bear in mind that most of the music you hear doesn't find its way to your ears until it has been produced and mastered to near-perfection. That, unfortunately, is why your music can't sound like theirs. Don't let that discourage you, though.
