You could ask for individual pictures, if he does have all of them stored still.
I was thinking of user-specific .zip or .rar files. I really don't have any idea of how to contact SK anymore.
I've finally gotten off my lazy butt and started a Photobucket album for all of the Retrogade submissions. I've only just started uploading pictures, so they're definitely not all up yet, but I'm making progress. You can check out the album at http://s264.photobucket.com/albums/ii194 /retrogade_com/. Look for sub-albums on the left; at the moment I've got them grouped by ID's in the 1000's, but that might change as I get pictures uploaded. I also plan on tagging each picture with the artist, so you can easily see all images by an artist. Enjoy!
Well, I've uploaded up to ID#797 and tagged up to ID#250. It's rather slow going, but hopefully it'll get done eventually. I'll get some done whenever I get a chance, and hopefully if I'm not too burnt out by the time I get the uploads and tags done, I'll go back and put the submission descriptions for each image.
Ah crap, looks like I bumped the thread to the next page. Here's my last post on the previous page, for those who don't bother going back a page:

And a properly working URL would be nice...
Hopefully I'll be able to get more pictures done at some point; I've got a final tomorrow, then I'm staying at my parents' house and fiancee's place over Christmas break. Oh, and if anyone's interested, I accepted a full-time position offer from the software firm I'm working at right now! I'll be starting after I graduate from A&M in May, and then the wedding's in June. Whee, fun stuff.
As for the fate of Retrogade itself, I've felt slightly inclined towards restarting the site, in a more streamlined format. The old site will never be brought back online; the code was too clunky, slow, resource-consuming, and cobbled together. If (and that's a big if) I manage to rewrite Retrogade, it'll be a much sleeker and simpler design, eliminating a number of problems with the last version. I still don't have possession of the domain name retrogade.com, but the server hosting it seems to have died recently. Hopefully this means the stupid Indian spammers won't renew the registration, and I can get it back. If not, I'll come up with a witty derivation of Retrogade, perhaps renewing progade.com. Who knows. Keep in mind, this is just early ideas bouncing in my head, nothing concrete or set in stone.

Wohow! Finally some great news! :D Will the old user database be used? With all the posts/reviews/pics/etc intact? I sure hope so, spent a shitload of time on everything. Btw, is the new code brand new or the old one modified?

Not sure on that yet. I'll probably try to allow users to enter their old username and password to get their old pics and articles posted again, but everything else will probably be cleaned out.

Brand spanking new code. One major reason RG got taken down in the first place was the clunky codebase. We're starting completely from scratch and rewriting the whole beast. It'll take a while to get all the features up and running, but it'll work a lot better this time, and will be a lot easier to maintain.

Ok. If you still have the SQL for reviews/forum posts/profile comments, might you be able to send it to me? I could try setting up an archive for that on my server. I'd like still having a copy of all the pointless scribbles I posted back then, heh.

Looking forward to it! :) How about images, logo/level icons/simleys? If you need any assistance I'd be happy to help.
Also. Any possibility you could release the old code to the public, opensource? I'm sure it would be much appriciated despite it's clumpiness.
sup sk
just checking in on this thread. seems people have been missing retrogade a whole lot more than i have, eheheh
thoughts, reiterated from elsewhere:
it would be pretty cool if retrogade v5 did away with stat enhancement as the main source of motivation, [similar to what] that wonderful nacho fellow said...really what turned me off the [original] site towards the closing was the insane amount of drama and controversy caused by paying too much attention to stuff like that.
'twas indeed my fault for coming up with half of the stat system ideas and pushing for their implementation, but i couldn't foresee a messy result like...what happened to the community in the end. at least now we know what kind of things to avoid...right now i just wanna watch retrogade redeveloping, but if it gets interesting enough i'd probably find some fun in helping the site get started up again.
probably gonna draw some comments from the peanut gallery with that. (:
while i can't say i terribly miss the site right now, i believe it's a worthwhile project to work on - it's got more avid fans (read: fans interested to a greater extent) than i expected, hopefully for the right reasons. best of luck, i'll be spectating with mild gusto for now.
I'm making my obligatory post in this thread to let people know that I an a real person.
