Primarily because SK had/has too many other, more important, things going on in his life to devote any time to site maintenance, and there was no one to take over, but also because the ads weren't generating enough revenue to cover server costs, and the server he tried to move it to was all backwards and screwy and didn't work with the code, or something along those lines.
