I'm finally ready to pick up a new book. I will select one from my "to read bookshelf" and devour it now.

I started reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho today, and I am in love.

Right now I'm reading Jan Potocki's The Manuscript Found in Saragossa and it is fucking bonkers. It was written in the 18th century by a Polish nobleman but there have already been stories within stories within stories, multiple threesome scenes, and one sequence straight out of Itchy & Scratchy where ghouls tear out the tendons from a dude's leg and play them like a harp.

i wish more people posted in this thread. I wish more people read books, or liked reading.

Same.

Currently reading Airframe by Michael Crichton. I'm about 100 pages in, and it's very suspenseful.

I'm reading Warcraft. There's war, people bitching about races, something about "The Guardian" and I lost my book mark so I'm starting over.

I finished Airframe; it was great. I'm definitely going to check out more of Michael Crichton's works.

I finished Fourplay; pretty damn good erotica.

I finished Because of Winn Dixie; adorable book, I want to watch the movie.

I'm currently reading Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.

some people don't have the patience which is not necessarily a bad thing. I have trouble reading a lot but i write all the time. audio books help me a lot though.
having a short attention span was a good thing back when everyone was hunting and gathering because they would explore and find resources more often.

Yes.

thats my favorite book. I think the way he lived may be still viewed as primitive, but i think if more people considered his teachings and applied them, maybe it would save us from many of the problems we are making for ourselves and future generations.

If anybody wants to read some war books that are true stories try Steel my Soldiers Hearts, and The Forgotten Soldier. Steel my Soldiers Hearts is about Vietnam and Forgotten Soldier is Germany in WW2. I think it's more interesting to read about armies that lost the war.

Did you finish the whole series? It's great.

Eighteen days into 2017 and I've read thirteen books. I'm currently reading #5 in the Unfortunate Events books. I re-read Go Ask Alice, and I'm hammering out three textbooks for school (and I'm actually enjoying reading 2 of them).

I failed the session because I didn't have time to pass my homework. I don't have time for this at all, since I work hard to pay for my education. But fortunately I found people who will do my computer science homework. In the meantime, I'm reading this book.

Reading Jurassic Park atm. A good read. I like games about secret scientific stuff that ends in disaster like resident evil or dead space. So books like this are fun too. The lawyer in this book is much different and Hammond is a bit more negative. I haven't gotten to the part where the Park shuts down and the dinosaurs Rome, but Tim(the kid in the movie) has spotted a raptor and nobody believes him because it was out of the fenced raptor area. Grant has found raptor eggs and the Park workers don't believe him because there's no breeding suppose to happen. In the movie we know exactly when the raptors break loose so it'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Neat. I've always wondered what it's like compared to the movie. Does it feel similar tone-wise or is it drier or more pulpy?

Also, anyone here fuck w Ishiguro? I'm reading all his books for my lit thesis and the man is just a phenomenal literary voice.

Tone over all is more serious then the movie was at the beginning. It's more of an investigation into the park than the awe and wonder.
