Sometimes I look at a picture and think, “Hmm, looks fine…”
But then my sixth sense punches me in the brain and goes,
“Dude. That’s AI.”
I can’t explain it. The picture might have perfect shading, nice colors, even decent hands (rare!).
But deep down, my bones start whispering, “Something’s not right...”
It’s like I was born with an internal AI detector, and it starts beeping the moment I see a smile that’s too symmetrical.
So yeah, I trust my gut.
Especially since that same gut just helped me advance to the Knockout Round of the Newgrounds Underdogs’ Audio Contest.
And guess what?
Today I made a brand new beat for the round.
Made in 3 minutes.
Gear used, a 20years old MacBook held together with tape, and Logic Pro 9, which I’m pretty sure runs on hopes and prayers at this point.
If this thing makes it to the finals, I’m giving all the credit to my sixth sense... and maybe a little bit to duct tape.

What’s a Knock-out Round?
The next stage of this 3-stage competition! Half of the original competitors from each group were accepted into the Knock-out Round, rounded up according to group membership and then rounded up again if there were ties. The new group membership totals may be unequal as a result of ties, rounding, and disqualifications.
What do I do if I made it in?
The remaining 227 competitors have until Saturday, July 26th at 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Time to submit a completely original track (i.e., made from scratch for the competition) to this thread. You couldn't have started working on this piece until last night, as per the rules. If we find evidence of you having done so, you will be automatically disqualified. Please read all of the rules if you haven’t already.
There will be NO remixes, remakes, mash-ups, covers, arrangements, or anything like that for this round. Your piece really has to be COMPLETELY original. NO COPYRIGHTED SAMPLES ARE ALLOWED. If you don’t know where a sample originates from, please don’t use it. This copyright policy is also clarified in the NG Audio Portal guidelines.
The strongest competitors from each group will be announced by Thursday, July 31st. Then, those people will face each other in an epic finale!
What do I do if I DIDN’T make it in?
Politely ask the judges for some feedback, of course! @ADR3-N, @AhWham, @ALGOfficial, @Casper, @Dawphin, @EspyoNG, @Lordant, @NahuPyrope, @NashQP, @Payton-Petkus, @RedCocoa, @TeraVex, @TryzonEDM, @Veryfakeguest, and me all worked really hard to deliver these scores in a timely manner, so please be patient and respectful with us. Please keep any discussion of your entry to a PM, not the thread. The judges might even be willing to leave you some reviews with a detailed rundown of your score if you ask nicely.

RIGHT THE HECK HERE! People who made it into the Knock-out Round are highlighted in green. People who didn’t are not. The lists are alphabetized within their groups, so please make sure you know which group you’re in. Also note that there are different tabs near the bottom of the spreadsheet for each group, so if you don’t see your name right away, make sure you’re on the right tab. Unless your fan total has changed in the past 9 days, the following should still be relevant:
Underdogs: 0-9 fans
Professional Amateurs: 10-35 fans
Above Average Joes: 36-89 fans
All Stars: 90 fans or more
Congratulations to all of the competitors for their hard work. I’ve scouted 23 musicians in the past few days, padded my favorites list, and overall thoroughly enjoyed seeing some new faces and NG veterans all come out for the contest.
