For me, it would be a nice little colony sim on steam named Banished. It's pretty relaxing, and feels great when you transform a small little hamlet into a full fledged city. It has tons of mods on the workshop, which bring with it a ton of replayability.

My only issue with it is colonists love hoarding food in their house to the point where others will start to starve. This is usually only a problem in early game, and can be fixed by just starting with the Boarding House as a starting home for everyone. But this can also be fixed with mods, so it's not a huge issue.

I have no idea if this was popular or not, but I loved it as a kid and recently went back to thrillville. Build a theme park. You can design the costers and race tracks. I was very impressed that this 19 year old game had more customization options , than 90% of modern games. The graphics definitely show its age, but I thought was a fun time killer. Build bigger and better, and or, just play mini games with your friends.

Playing with friends, had me crying from laughing multiple times.

So ya, in summary-kid game, but fun

In terms of fighting games, and fighting game crossovers for that matter, I'm honestly surprised that the Capcom vs SNK series hasn't been as mention as much as Marvel vs Capcom. (TBF, Marvel was and still is a bigger brand than SNK, but regardless)

Strangely, if not surprisingly, CvS along with MvC2 is more or less the peak of crossover fighters, with most other attempts end up being disappointing at best (Mortal Kombat vs DC) or outright flops that stops a franchise stone dead at worst. (Blazblue Cross Tag Battle *shudder*)

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Something more mainstream but never quite got the love I think it deserved was Vanquish. The slickest, most fluid action game I've ever played. Getting good at Vanquish feels like performing a dance with bullet time and rocket boosters. It was probably hurt by how stupid the story was, but even that had some camp charm to it.

Hell yeah on the Vanquish! I wish games like that, would be the default choice for the basic-meathead type gamers, instead of Call Of Duty or something.

Like, both games can serve perfectly fine, for just turning on a video-game, switch your brain to 0%, and just shoot stuff. But games like Vanquish just simply give you the options to make it look/feel incredibly cool doing it.

(On the plus side, the lack of popularity has kept the game in a nice bargain-bin status, making it easy and cheap to pick up for like your old PS3 or something (was it on 360too?) , gathering dust. So you could probably gather a bunch of copies in bulk, and hand em out to your friends! ':D)

And its probably gonna be on some sales on Steam as well for very little money. So you can play that dancy-shooty badboi on almost anything on the cheap!

I got that exact same kinda love for Bionic Commando. Also not great on story and stuff, but simply focused on the dope gameplay, where if you master the controlls, you can make it into some action-movie dance-choreography type of shizzle, <3.

Similarly semi-obscure game. But with spiderman kinda gameplay instead of the rocket-boots.

Ghost of a Tale

“It’s a dangerous world out there, for a little mouse.”

iu_1428719_4428769.webp

A medieval fantasy game about a mouse minstrel Tilo trying to find his wife in a prison fortress full of hostile rats… and a mystery underneath.

The choice of protagonist is very refreshing – you are a non-combatant, so you get around using stealth, platforming and dirty tricks. But above that, you are a musician, and there are many occasions to play a song; either to learn history, cheer someone up or inspire rebellion. You even keep updating your songs as you learn new information.

The game has very impressive worldbuilding, too. You can tell it’s a living world beyond the keep, with a rich history of battles, politics and betrayals. The people also have customs tied to their culture… for example, why is Tilo carrying around a black wood carving of a mouse? Why do you call an old mouse “ouma”? What is the “rotgut” everyone keeps drinking?

And finally, you get to know the characters around the keep better as you go on. Is the stern blacksmith who helps you out in it just for the money? Will the two mouse thieves make it out alive, and why does one of them have trouble sleeping? Will the Commander finally compose a coherent song? Is the pirate frog off his gourd, or is he a clever trickster?

It’s a game made more or less by a single developer, and you can finish it in about a day, but if the description above sounds interesting, I recommend giving the game a try.

My brother and I have a copy of that game. It’s not only difficult to find but it’s also pretty scary.

I don't know if this GBA game is underrated, but I'm going to say that it is. For Altered Beast: Guardian of the Realms, they take the Sega Genesis game and update it with plenty of levels (15 in total) and Killer Instinct-style graphics. I really like this game.

What are some obscure and overlook video games you think deserve more love, and attention, but was overshadowed by popular games. Name a few of them and why people need to play them. Either AAA or indie, past, or modern. Can be from different consoles, like, arcades, online, Atari, NES, SNES, Sega genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, gameboy, gameboy color, gameboy advance, N64, gamecube, Wii, playstation, ps2, ps3, ps4, ps5, Xbox, xbox 360, xbox one, xbox series x and s, any kind of consoles you name of.

The Summon Night Swordcraft Story Series!

Very simple games but it felt ahead of its time for a GBA game out in 2003. You can bond with someone, It was pretty hard just picking one character to interact with but it gives it replay value! The pink hair girl will love you if you are a boy or girl which was shocking to me lol

And the second game really improved the plot, gameplay and writing. Sadly the 3rd game never got translated...but the games still hold up to me imo. A underrated RPG for sure, better than the mainline games lmao

Anarchy Reigns by Platinum games. Held off on getting it awhile because of the mixed reviews but once I finally did I loved it. Supposedly there was a small but dedicated multi player scene. To its' credit the single player campaign was good too. Never got the Bayonetta dlc though. (Probably should have!)

The Splatterhouse remake on the 360 was alright. Challenging and brutal beat em up with a horror aesthetic, environmental hazards, and a lot of gore. If you're a Splatterhouse purist it may not live up to all your expectations but the fact you can unlock even the classic SH games that were on the Genesis makes it worth going thru at least one time! (And Jennifer is hawt!)

Now a lot of mine have gotten a lot of attention but not good attention. It's arkham origins, castlevania 2, and of course sonic forces(i glaze this game so hard and I don't know why). Also the blue cartridge a exe game on newgrounds. Arkham origins is a brilliant game with an amazing score, the dialogue is fantastic and the bosses are amazing. Castlevania 2 is a fun adventure(haven't finished it I suck at old games even though the nes classic was one of my first consoles) and the controls are fun, and the music goes hard. Sonic forces ost goes hard, and half the game is actually good(mortar canyon, egg gate, and the final boss to name a few). The blue cartridge is the only one which is actually not hated by a lot of people. It's a retake on pendrive asul, it's based on a bootleg so expect it to suck and it was made for the gameboy. Haven't finished any of these besides forces lol.
