I really like flash 8 (and by extension CS3) and definitely recommend these for smaller stuff
thing is, they're 32bit and limited in memory usage so if your project starts getting big, they become unusable.
i've talked about the issues i faced last year while doing windowz xp, 600gb page file didn't help, so having a newer version on hand just in case is a good idea

You can pull off some neat tricks through the dozens of youtube videos I've seen. Personally, I've been looking at AS2 all wrong. It might not have the optimization AS3 has, but it is still a capable language in and out of itself. Plus I'd be a massive hypocrite to use CS6 when I hate adobe with a passion.
yeah, flash 8 is way better to use than flash 5 so far lmao. only issue now is everything is blindingly white which would be fine if inspiration struck at any time earlier than 3 AM. i'll probably get over it
I have never developed or made a Newgrounds game before, but I am willing to give it a shot! I find it really inspiring when people close to my age, or my generation of people, are also making browser games!
I have worked as a background artist for FNF mods, and also did my own sprites for my own mod too! While most of the mods I worked for never saw the light of day, I can take what I learned from that experience and apply it to Newgrounds games!
Of course, I’m not competing for the money, but participating will help me gain a following, and also develop my skills and work-ethic as a cartoonist and content creator! Wish me luck, guys! :)
Is there a limit on entries per person? I'm juggling a few ideas, and one of them seems like it'd be easier to get done, and would be a good way for me to figure shit out, but if it's one per-person, I might just upload that one without entering it, as there would be less to do in it.

Flash Forward Jam 2025
Time for our fifth annual Flash Forward Jam! This event celebrates the legacy of Flash while giving people cool new Flash games and interactive movies. It’s an alternate reality where Flash never died!
Entries are expected to run in the browser, thanks to Ruffle. Ruffle will run just about any AS2 game and many more AS3 games than last year, with better performance as well. Read the September Ruffle update for details on some of the changes since the last Flash Forward Jam.
Jam Requirements:
April 6th is the 25th anniversary of NG’s Flash Portal becoming the first place on the Internet where people could instantly publish movies and games. It would be awesome if you could publish your Flash Forward entry ON April 6th, to make the whole day a big event. This isn't a requirement, though.
Note, if you want your entry to run well on mobile, be sure your buttons have a large click space to capture finger taps.

accoridng to the instuctions, interactive stories must be a movie (and i almost convert it into a game) but okay then, heres a sneak peak of it
Tom might be overpromising stuff.
I'm phasing out the old sharing API because it's using so much hacky stuff that was made to bet around ActionScript 2 limitations, and we don't want to keep supporting it in new projects. We do want to make a newer version eventually, but what I'm currently focusing on is a mix of some helpful model generators anyone can piggyback on for custom API libraries, modernizing the JavaScript library, and getting ActionScript libraries together to support all the existing components in the modern Newgrounds.io API.
I know someone asked about doing supporter specific stuff, and you will be able to do that when you load a user session, just like in any of the HTML5 versions. We'll have a unified API and never have to support the old Flash stuff again.
I'm kinda amazed that stuff you think would only be possible in after effects, is actually pretty simple. Take this image for example I found online:
You think you couldn't do it in flash, but you can get close if get creative. Notice how the the light and shadows in this image is pillowed in a way? I could emulate that using the blur and glow effects built into flash:
Now, you can't get hyper-realism with flash. But you can get some cool stuff if get creative. Just thought that was cool and wanted to share with everyone.

This is so hype!! :O I've never made anything in Flash before, but since it was a such a big part of my childhood I think it's time I finally make something of my own to commemorate! Time to find some tutorials; the grind starts now B)
I don't know why I'm doing this. Well, I know WHY I'm doing this, but I don't know why I'm doing this. I have no coding experience. Well, no good experience anyway. I have no idea what I'm doing and AS3 is like a brick wall. If you're an old timer guru with some free time that wants to help, feel free to DM me your ancient secret arts.
