HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!

Summer's over, spooky month is in full swing - and Christmas is just around the corner. No matter how you slice it, it's time to get comfy.
NGTV Christmas Marathon returns for one last broadcast (most likely) - and this time there are special surprises on the way as well!
You're probably not sure what the hell I'm talking about, here's the deal:
NGTV is a tv-themed collab, this is the third one & you can check out the previous ones here:
https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/911656
https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/935762
The goal is to replicate the tv-watching experience as close as possible. That, of course, includes not just shorts but commercials, bumpers, talk shows, and anything else you can think of. I suggest checking out the links above to get a better feel of what it's all about.
You are invited to make anything you want, in any genre, medium & style, as long as it's (at least somewhat) Christmassy. Whether you want to do an original short, a commercial, a parody of whatever comes to mind, or anything in-between - it's all welcome!
Note: if you're doing a commercial - you don't have to include anything Christmassy, but it is definitely encouraged!
Application
Since it's a tv-themed collab, there are different subcategories for submissions. When applying, you will be asked what subcategory your submission will fall into.
The subcategories and their particular runtime guidelines are as follows:
Commercial (up to 45 seconds)
Short (from 30 seconds up to LIMITLESS)
Parody (from 30 seconds up to LIMITLESS)
Other - PSAs, talk shows, news, trailers, etc. (depends)
Note: These aren't rules, they're just guidelines. Shorter or longer is most likely fine.
Please don't think any of these have a higher barrier of entry than the others, the reason for subcategory selection being a part of the application process is for streamlining the production. Gotta keep track of how many entries are in each subcategory. The collab is open to beginners, as is tradition - but this time around there's a bit more quality control.
After applying, I'll contact as soon as possible with all the relevant information & a Discord invite. No worries, though, you don't have to be in the Discord - it's set up mostly to help people find collaborators.
Please don't apply more than once.
Musicians and VAs don't need to apply, just drop your info in the thread.
Apply here
make sure to read the rest of this post, though!
(and the followup)
Specs & Rules
Video: 24fps 2160p 4:3 (2880x2160)
Audio: stereo @ 44,100hz
Shorts and parodies can be 16:9 but keep in mind they will be letterboxed
Commercials must be 4:3
Live action is allowed.
No A rated material. M at most.
If doing a short or a parody - you must have a title. No need to make a title card or anything, but a title is needed for the "Coming Up Next" bumpers.
No watermarks. Everyone will be properly credited both in-video and in the description.
No VHS/TV filters. The collab will be transferred to a real VHS tape - courtesy of TeffyD
If you have any questions, please read the follow-up post first, before asking.
Deadline: December 16th
That gives everyone two months to finish their submission(s) which should hopefully be enough.
The collab itself will be released soon after.
Submitting
Name your file using this template:
yourNGusername_title
and include a text file with NG usernames of anyone who you collaborated with, as well as their role(s) (musician, VA, backgrounds, etc.)
Please don't work on a submission without applying and being accepted first.
Note: you are likely to get in, as long as there's visible effort put in your work.
I loved the summer bash, this one will also probably kick ass

I hope you guys will take me, I've had a neat idea for a dumb little commercial for a long time now.
I would love to be able to participate in this jam!
I'd apply but I'm bad at the whole effort thing (when it's not music at least)
But hey I could give it a shot

Off to a great start I am
Hi! I'm Forest and I'm an aspiring voice actor trying to get out there more, if anyone needs any voices for their shorts, commercials, or parodies feel free to hit me up, I'd be happy to be apart of your work for this project! ^^
If anyone needs music for their entry, I'm down to compose.
How long on average do we have to wait to get approved for the project? Just asking
Full Time voice actor, trained in animation and interactive, with a studio-level recording space. I'm also the voice on an Old Spice campaign with over 8 million views on Youtube. Happy to help if anyone needs some voice actors (I also know a long list of voice actors with quality sound as well). You can find my site and info at dcvoiceover.com.
Just let me know!

I was wondering the same thing, too. I filled the form several days ago.

This is because kolumbo is focusing on higher quality this year. Not just anyone will participate.

That's fine if I'm not accepted into the marathon since I have a Thanksgiving cartoon in mind (and not worry about rushing a Christmas cartoon for it, too).

I've went through all the applications that have been sent in so far. If you haven't received a PM regarding the collab - your application was not accepted. If you want to get in touch about it - please shoot me a PM so the thread doesn't get overrun.
On a side note, since I know not getting into a collab sucks, I am looking into ways to include people in a not-so-direct way, so there's less hurt feelings - and if I figure it out in the coming week you can expect a PM with more details.
Applications remain open, of course - until the very end. I won't be checking them daily, so don't worry too much if you don't get a message the same day.
Thanks everyone!

It sucks I wasn’t accepted, but I’m not going to complain about it. Hope your marathon does well!

Just modified my seat for this occasion

In the "coming up next" bumpers, is the creator supposed to add the text themselves?

if you're planning on doing a bumper, please make sure you'll be available at some point between Dec 16th & Dec 18th, in order to add the necessary text for the titles coming up. if you work in flash/animate, you can send me the .fla and I can add the text myself, if you won't be available. I can do it over video too, but having the project file is definitely preferable.
ah sick! I wanna join this collab!

I'm not sure about that.
I don't think I can finish my movie by December 16. Can I get maybe 2 more days if I don't finish by the deadline? It's not gonna be too much. I already completed sound and rough animation. I only have about a minute of animation to finalize.
