What is your favorite video game? Mine is Super Mario Galaxy

Mmmmm I'd say Kirby's Return to Dream Land,

Back then I would have said Portal 2, but since it's a puzzle game, it wears off after several playthroughs, still a pretty damn good game.

If it was more polished, then I'd say Super Mario Sunshine easily, even the Eclipse mod still has some blemishes in the psychics and camera controls.

Spore Hero would be peak if the gameplay wasn't so, ech

Anyways I choose Return to Dream Land for numerous reasons:

Aesthetics: It has this 2000s platformer stink to it, where it's weirdly gloomy and saturated thanks to the way older game engines looked, I love this aesthetic so much

Gameplay: It's basically the best Kirby ever felt, any game after basically reuses the same gameplay

Simplicity: I will admit, it's very bland in comparison to later entries, but I love how simple the story and settings are

It's not much, but it's what I seek most out of video games, it would be cool if it had slightly more indepth writing like Planet Robobot or Forgotten Land though.

I would say Forgotten Land btw, but I have only beaten that game once so far, compared to Return's dozen times (more than Portal 2 btw, I never really play games more than two or three times to begin with)

I have so many favorites that I can't even pick one out of the same series that I consider my favorite.

1. First two LittleBigPlanets with an honorable mention to LBP Vita and Dreams. If it weren't for the fact that my PS4 loved to disconnect from the internet for no reason I'd probably have played Dreams for just as long as I did with LBP
2. The PS2 Ratchet & Clank trilogy as well as Ratchet Deadlocked. I was quite bummed that they didn't port Deadlocked to Vita alongside the other four Ratchet & Clank games that got ported to it.
3. Legends Arceus, Colosseum, and Gale of Darkness are my top 3 favorite Pokemon games. Sword & Shield can get an honorable mention too. Dynamax Adventures was a blast even when you're stuck with AI teammates.
4. Dark Cloud 2 or its spiritual successor Rogue Galaxy. I think DC2 takes the spot because RG has an awful weapons grinding system and a few enemies have this really dumb quirk where you need to shoot them with a shield breaker gun before you can start damaging them, and also there's two types of shields with their own specific shield breaker gun, meaning in some dungeons you'll just occasionally miss out on weapon EXP (though you only gain 1 Weapon EXP point per mob regardless of how many enemies are in the encounter so you're better off just running from shielded enemy encounters entirely)... Outside of that bizarre gameplay choice, Rogue Galaxy is one of the best narrative-focused action RPGs I've played. A Quality of Life remaster/romhack that gives you a WXP point per enemy killed instead of only 1 for every encounter would make such a huge difference.
5. Couldn't think of anything to round this list off that wouldn't fit better in my honorable mentions list, so I'll go with Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I'm not much of an open world fan, but TotK was definitely the best one to give a chance out of any of them. I didn't play BotW to completion because it felt like I'd seen and done everything in under 10 hours, and all I had to look forward to was more of the same but wooooahhhh now some of the enemies are blue and take a few more hits! TotK on the other hand continued to surprise me with new biomes and enemy types up until the very end. It could still have used a few more enemy types though but what it had to offer made BotW look like a shaky and unpolished tech demo.

Honorable mention to Kingdom Hearts 2, Risk of Rain 2, Terraria, basically every PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era mascot platformer (save for Jak 2 and shovelware like Ruff Trigger and Space Chimps), and the criminally obscure Metal Arms: Glitch in the System.
