I used to be against sketching when I was a kid but I got around to doing them more as I got older.

I return with some more stuff! Sorry if this is spammy. Alright here’s the initial wip of my most recent piece I posted here. This was for an zine based off the themes of Humility, I was going to do a weird horror like piece with conjoined twins. My line of thinking was that humility is something that we simply cannot escape. It’s always something looming over us. But I honest to god really hated the initial sketch, and I felt like the message was way too negative for me, given that I’m an pretty major optimist.
Anyways I unfortunately do not have a sketch of this weird flower creature cause I did this all in one sitting late at night, before my dentist appointment to take my wisdom teeth out. But, yeah I like this way better I feel like this is way more hopeful and less cynical. The message I wanted to give off is that having humility is good, and it can actually make us appreciate life way more. Without it, we wouldn’t have any time to simply stop and realize how important the world is. Also not as important I like how gender neutral this guy is, which is pretty cool and I fucking love that.

one thing I love/hate is how much I go to edit until the finished piece, usually for the worst since as the following pics show, the composition/anatomy can get worse with so many changes

I find a lot of my finished peices look worse than the sketch, the effort of refining art gets rid of the volumes and conturs present in the original sketch especially if the refinment is done digitally

As a person who sketches more than creating pieces, I feel you on that. I think your finished piece looks good though!

Attempted making a new PFP, but not sure if I'm feeling this one. I spent most of the day on it, too. :[
Tried making my cat robot thing look more robotic, but I don't think it went too well. Idk anymore. Might have to go back to the drawing board in a few weeks or something.

I did end up making a slight update and feel a little better about it. The link above should work for seeing the new piece. Plus, new one is my profile pic now, so you can see it that way, too.
That "finished piece" I did 2 weeks ago now classifies as a "sketch". Here are the ACTUAL final results!

Since I only have paper and a mouse - I either sketch on paper or Microsoft Paint with my mouse. It's fun to see the progression, and making it helps blueprint the process. Plus, I just really like sketching in MS Paint now.

Just finished this up. OG Japhet sketch was done during one of my classes yesterday, for an upcoming painting assignment.
I liked it enough that I wanted to finish it up digitally alongside the painting I have to do of the OG one.

My sketches tend to line out the very basics in just red and i do the rest after that (Sometimes changing the pose a lil' like i did here)
