Hi there, I'm GlitchBuddy, but you can just call me Glitch. I'm an artist that focuses on worldbuilding and character design in my own weird little style. Here, I'll be posting any art that I make, whether it's a finished piece or a simple sketch.

Most of my art is organised into certain projects, which are collections of art all set in the same universe. This is how I keep track of the worlds I build. The project's name will be denoted in square brackets above each piece of art, so you know where it's from. However, I'll also upload anything else I make, such as fanart, art trades/collabs, and concept characters.

With all that out of the way, let's go!

[Concept]

To start things off, here's a concept character I came up with a couple days ago. Say hello to Cyril!

Cyril is a cylinder who is made up of four equal segments. He is able to rotate, rearrange and remove his segments as he pleases, meaning that if he wants to reach for something high up, or he needs to get himself into a shorter spade for whatever reason, he can do so with ease.

Each segment serves a different function. The blue segment contains his legs, the pink segment contains his arms, the green segment contains his eyes and mouth, and the orange segment... looks cool.

As you can see in the topmost image, Cyril is happiest when he's outside. His favourite pastimes are fishing, swinging on the swing set and spending time with his friends. His biggest fear is getting lost, however, which is why he only tends to stick to places he knows.

Cyril is a unique character. I don't know for sure what I'll be doing with him in the future, but I'll certainly be drawing more of him. For now, to close things off, here's his reference sheet:

[Glitch & Gummi]

Glitch and Gummi are two best friends in a world where they don't belong - our world! Whether they're sitting at home, going out for a walk, or fighting against the people who want to capture them and take them away forever, every day brings something new to this unlikely duo.

(I do apologise for the inconsistent styles; these two references were made about a year and a half apart from each other.)

Glitch is a toy robot who, one day, inexplicably gained sentience. After hearing that the company that made him wanted to strip him for parts, he ran away and went into hiding. He now lives in a place he calls "The Bunker" - a literal abandoned military bunker hidden in a field.

Gummi is a tiny alien from a distant planet, who ended up on Earth after what was meant to be a relaxing summer vacation went awry. His efforts to learn English to communicate with humans inadvertently led him to discover that the government was looking for him. He eventually came across Glitch one day, who invited him into his home, where they both now live.

[Concept]

A concept for a mysterious cave-dwelling species I made a while back.

Cryptics are rectangular creatures made out of rock. They have a pair of small, yellow eyes at the front. They walk on four flat feet that are directly attached to the lower half of their body. They are completely mute, and communicate entirely using body language. While unintelligent, cryptics possess mysterious powers of alteration, able to instantly wipe an object or person out of existence if they so wished.

Cryptics are tribal creatures, and will mostly stick to groups of around six to eight. They are incredibly hostile, and will use their powers to attack anything they don't recognise, whether that might be a creature, an object, or even a cryptic of another tribe. However, they can't notice you if they cannot see or hear you, which is how we know of their existence in the first place.

Once hopeless and depressed, Ditko found a new purpose in life as a dimensional traveller. He spends his days travelling between dimensions, interacting with their locals, seeing their sights, and jotting down his findings into the notebook he keeps in his pouch. Life was good again... until a mysterious evil presence started slowly consuming each and every dimension. Not one to stand idly by, Ditko decides he'll do anything and everything he can to stop this force in its tracks.

[Fanart]

"The Lonely Seashell", a piece of fanart I made for a small little indie game called KarmaZoo. Seashell is one of the playable characters, although this piece of art goes for a more realistic style instead of the pixelated monochrome one that the game has.

This piece was my first experiment with shading and pen pressure, which you can see on both the sunset and the ripples of the waves. I think it turned out really well!

[Concept]

A character I came up with during a doodling session yesterday. Her name is Stretch.

Stretch is a character made up of a thick jelly-like substance. As her name suggests, she can stretch her arms to a theoretically infinite length.

Stretch is an antisocial character, avoiding social interaction whenever possible. She is always seen wearing a purple cap, and tries her best to constantly maintain a threatening demeanour.

[Concept]

Derrick is a blob on a platform. He's able to move himself around with the platform, as well as think for himself and hold conversations with ease.

Derrick is an incredibly chill and friendly guy. He spends his days slowly rolling around, soaking in the surroundings, and being around his friends, which is all he could ever want out of life.

However, Derrick's origins are clouded in mystery. What is he made out of? Where did he come from? What are those wires that are plugged into him? Is he controlling the platform... or is the platform controlling him? Nevertheless, once you get to know him, Derrick will be a friend for life. Just don't think too hard about those other things.

[Ditko]

Ditko's Portal Pad. It's the purple waistband he always wears around himself, and it's what enables him to travel between dimensions.

Compared to other dimensional travel devices (DTDs), the "Portal Pad", as Ditko has called it, is incredibly basic, with each dimension he travels to being completely random. Nevertheless, it's very sentimental to him, and he wouldn't even think about trading it for a more advanced model.

Another Ditko drawing. A while ago I wanted to try drawing other members of Ditko's species. They all follow the same concept, really, with slight variations, and of course different clothing.

My latest finished art piece as of this post. I call it "It'll grow on you". It's about a big rock creature discovering a tiny little friend growing out of its arm.

I think you did a great job here. It's not easy expressing such a wide range of emotions with a character design this simple, but I'd say you succeeded!

My new BBS signature. I intended it to serve as a sort of mini-advertisement for my characters, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Recently gave the hero in blue a small redesign. He now has a pair of boots, which assist him when traversing terrain his natural legs weren't designed for. I didn't want the boots and his pouch to be the same colour, so I changed the pouch into a sort of brown leather material. This is now the third version of the character.

[Concept]

This is Core, a new character co-designed by me and my friend @aapiarts.

Core is, put simply, a trash enthusiast. He spends his days looking for trash, collecting trash, and essentially living in trash. He's a traveller, and is always on the lookout for the next junkyard or dumpster to dive headfirst into. Nobody really knows how or why he became so obsessed with trash, but he's generally loved by everyone either way. Well, everyone except the junkyard owners...

I call this one "Waking Up". Before he became a dimensional traveller and a hero, Ditko was a broken, depressed Ponko Juice addict, and this is how most of his nights would usually end: waking up on the side of the road somewhere, without a single memory of what just happened.

A doodle of an adventurer/fighter type of guy I have been working on for the past couple of days. I don't know if you could really consider this "overdesign", but that's kinda what I was trying to go for.
