(total prehistoric creatures on the logo: 33!)

Updated Wallpaper size and quality picture of the logo, is now avaliable!
And also the retrogade version!

Today's prehistoric creature (POTD):

Opthalmosaurus!

Era: Late Jurassic .
Location: Europe (England, France), North America (western USA, Canadian Arctic), South America (Argentina).
Size: 3.5m (11.5 ft).
Extremely well streamlined, with huge eyes (10cm / 4 in diam) occupying almost the whole depth of the skull on each side. It may thus have been a night feeder, probably hunting near the surface for squid.

Opthalmosaurus belongs to a group of marine reptiles called Icthyosaurs. Although it may look like a fish, it is indeed a reptile that needed to breath air. It lived in the Late Jurassic seas around England,France,Western U.S.A, the Canadian Arctic and Argentina. It may have reached lengths of up to 16 feet. It is reported to have the largest eyes of any vertabrate to ever live! Such large eyes may have helped Opthalmosaurus spot squid late at night. A beautifully preserved skeleton with a half expelled pup has been found, suggesting that this fish lizard gave live birth.

I discoverd a funny thing yesterday.

See, my classmate's last name's Herrera, and i recently found out that there where a dinosaur called Herrerasaurus, origin Bolivia, South America.

So, i looked up if there where any connections to these two. My classmate is born in Russia, BUT.... has a father from Bolivia. So there ya have it.

My classmate is named after a dino.

He was the lawyer.. :P

Hmmm... In the book the lawyer survived.

The only persons that was killed by the T-Rex in the book was Regis and Malcolm.
Regis... Yeah..
Umm in the book Malcolm was killed by the Tyrannosaur?? O_O

Yeah, although Malcolm wasn't eaten by the T-Rex, it did toss him in the air so he broke his back and later died.

Ummm enjoy (i got 98 on my book report :)!!
"The most important event in the story, for me, is the escaping of the Tyrannosaur. This event is the first part of the big mess and failure as one in the book Jurassic Park. Without the event, everyone might have been kept happy and safe untill the end of the book - which coulhd have made it more boring, and the opposite of what it is now.
The part when the water in the glass were (mistake: was) rippling with the earthquake-like sounds on the background was awesome, because of the realistic look it had, and the frighting behind it.
I also really liked seeing Tim and Lex fighting (mistake: need to add for) their lifes inside the car, while its twisting and crashing because of the Tyrannosaurus.
I also thinks (mistake: no s) that the part that "the blood sucking lawyer" (i forgot donald's name :P), as hammond like (mistake: need to add s) to call Gemaro, was eaten while sitting on the bathroom, simply because seeing a dinosaur eating is one of the coolests sights you can ever face, and only in this book and a few more places. The eating was looking (mistake: looked) real which made it more interesting , cooler and scarier. (183 words)

(teacher's note: "Well written)"

Yeah... I remember that first T-Rex scene, it was cool, and it's in the book too. But with the lawyer, thet never happened, he was never eaten by the T-Rex. When I read, this was one of the BIG scenes I waited for, I too love that in the film, but it never came :(
I think that was maybe the only disappointment with the book.

How about a quiz for fun?

Oh yeah and I just wanted to ask you a question carmel. Do you celebrate easter? I thought not because you're jewish, but I wondered if you do celebrate it in anyway at all. Sorry to be nosey, but I do RE and I'm just interested in other religions :)

I actually put Easter on the Calendar im making, but i only see Purim today O_o
I really have no idea how to celebrate it, but if it wasn't almost bed time now, i might have tried to :D
Yet i remmember like 5 years ago, when i was in Easter time in Italy, having big choclate eggs with surprise in them, and one (in the store) was like 80 cm high (32 Inch)!

I bet its awesome seeing HUGE eggs all around, maybe a dinosaur will come out of one as a surprise, who knows? :D

Did anyone here about the T-Rex soft tissue they found? I saw pictures of the samples and looks really cool. When you think about it is crazy, it used to be on one of the biggest things to ever walk the Earth. In speaking of Jurrasic Park have you seen the music video Wierd Al did about it?

I think you might mean Saurophagus ?
Hmm, well, evolution never stops, which means there isn't an exact spiece who is the same exactly spiece as the other. But small small differences does nothing really; but i'd go with a different dinosaur, from seeing one illustrated picture of it (he just looks other than the Allosaur in his tissue...).

See, Jurassic Park, was released on 1993, and opened the dinosaurs issue to lots of humans. In JP, they're seeing the Tyrannosaurus as the strongest thing they can think of that lived on earth. Its obvies what happens from now..

I wish they would clone it and raise it on a farm, Whatever happened to that wolly mammoth they found in the ice. I think it was on the discovery channel a year ago. In a museum, my guess.
