They're turning the Banana Splits into a horror movie.
That's weird.
Trailer.
Don't know how I feel about this, if anything I'm intrigued. But it does feel like kinda, albeit late to the party, cash grab banking on killer animatronics, FNAF to be specific. Funny enough, just told my dad about this since he grew up watching the old show, but hates horror movies, conversation went like this
Me:Hey Dad, good news and bad news
Dad: What's that
Me: Good news, they're doing a Banana Splits Movie
Dad: (with a bit of a shocked surprise) Really?
Me: Bad news, it's a horror movie
Dad: A horror movie?
Me: A horror movie
Dad:... What the fuck

Agreed
So, Midsommar.
Phenomenal stuff. Aster addressed all the problems I had with Hereditary. It's everything I wanted and more. Just fantastic.

I really enjoyed it as well.
It's what a Wicker Man remake should be. Not that Nicolas Cage nonsense.
The Wicker Man remake wasnt that good....

I'd argue it has little in common with The Wicker Man actually. Beyond the superficial, surface level stuff like it featuring a pagan cult and a visually similar finale, they're very different tonally, thematically and stylistically. It's one of the reasons I liked it so much, felt like very much its own film. As much as I love folk horror, a lot of it is very derivative, especially of The Wicker Man, whereas this brought something new to the table.
The Dead Don't Die is the most disappointing thing I've seen in ages.
I'm a huge Jim Jarmusch fan, and this is his worst film by some margin. It's a horror comedy that isn't funny enough to work as a comedy, and is too meta (characters frequently reference having read the script and the like) to work as a horror because how are you supposed to get invested in what happens to the characters when they're constantly referencing having read the script or getting angry at the director?
It just comes off as Jim getting all his celebrity pals together to have a laugh killing some zombies. Fair enough, it looks like they had a blast making it, but it doesn't really make for a good viewing experience. It's not totally irredeemable, Adam Driver is consistently funny and Tilda Swinton killing zombies with a samurai sword is Tilda Swinton killing zombies with a samurai sword, but on paper this should have been incredible, not the mildly amusing distraction it is.

Cabin Fever was gore porn and non-sensical in some parts, Hostel was 15 minutes of horror movie after 60 minutes of nothing.
so no.
