I tried to see what I could do about opening in a new window, it seems excel auto formats it the way it turns out. Unless someone wants to buy me a copy of frontpage. Which is the other format excel lets you save it too. I usally do a right click and open in a new window.

The other option is to do what I do, and it doesn't require FP or any of that garbage ... precode tabular formatting into columns. Send me a copy of your Excel and I'll show you what I mean. As a bonus it will also eliminate those "semi-hidden" columns that break up your posts.

Had another thought on something I'd like to see ... old posts of the list. As you are running it now, there's no way to see anything but the current one and it's always nice to compare an old to current to see the change in the ranking, rather than infer it from the first couple of columns.

Speaking of it, though... what about the person listed as MFAzoom@? I tried doing an author search for MFAzoom, MFAzoom@, MFAzoom2 (in case the @ was a typo for 2), etc. etc. But I can't find anything. Nor with MFAzoom in a topic title.

The reason I ask is because I gained two spots in exp today and was only expecting to gain one... then I loaded up your 8/1 update and saw that MFAzoom@ with no profile was at 6670 exp last update, same as me TODAY, so that must be it. Still, if he has no posts, the new system doesn't help find his current exp, eh? ;_;

But of course, he could have changed his username in the past month or so, too, which is why I'm asking you if you know anything about him having posts or not or what.

The easy way is simply to code a page for "Archives" or whatever. A link from the main page goes to it and that new "Archives" page has links to pages laid out the same way you have the XP list done now, just for each of the previous updates.

Doh. Sorry, I just found where you posted the problem. I've just now gotten on, and I opened every newly posted thread in Wi/Ht? in order of appearance, and your thread came before mine. I'll go take a look now...

Using the New program I ran it at 10pm to update exp for the people on the list on 9/1/04. Letting hopefully everyone get that last bit of exp. That is why the Delay.

Notes about the List:

The catorgies I use in order are current rank, previous rank, Exp from the last update, current exp, change in exp., and user name.

I put anyone that got 0 exp in bold so you know who is slacking. Also I have included the stat of change in exp on the list. So people can see how active others are on the list.

I am only congratz the people moving up into the top 50, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500. I see no reason to focus on those moving down.

Ok congrats to Nostant and MI4_Real_2001 for moving up into the top 50.

Moving into the top 100 are Lieutenant_Brookman, Pubert_The_Giant, tangosof, mydnyght, Rystic_Force, pingpong08, and bigbadron.

Moving up into the top 200 are Dobio, Wilbers,ViciousMonkey, moongod, Violet-AIM, and Shovelman.

I'm actually 177th now, as AdmiralDuGalle signed up loooong after me. #;-}> And for some reason, NG had me as #176 for the 1st, but that's probably because vibes (at 6838 on the list) hadn't deposited before profile rank update time, and was thus at 6828 while I was at 6830. I'd been stuck at #179 for like 10 days now, but passed kunislayershujo and AdmiralDuGalle yesterday to jump up by 2 to 177, and perhaps if vibes misses a day, I'll get to #176 for real.

I noticed a few errors earlier tonight when I first saw the list, but I think you've fixed them most... for example:

I tried to catch as many as possible. Yea I tried to go by exp not the rank. Rank helped me place them in the right area. It will all be correct on the site since I can revise that.

It's formatted OK. I prefer it on the website personally, 500 people is a bit unwieldy for the BBS.

Well, I kinda feel nostalgic for the good ol' "here's the top 100 and 25 people after that that may or may not make the top 100 soon" style you used to use... so it was kinda nice to see it back on the BBS again. But I also kinda agree with jon in that 500 is a bit long for the BBS when you already have it on the site.

After I post the top 500 VP list here, I go to ADGBC and just post the top 100. Perhaps something similar to that would work for you. Post the top 500 on the site, as you have been... and then just put the top 100 here, in a secondary location, to give a little taste to newbies to the list, and also doubley-reward the high-ups on the exp list by only listing them a second time.

Well, like I said, I noticed several errors when you first posted it (in the 20 ranks above my spot and 20 below my spot, for instance, there were about 6 or 7 people out of order), but then I also noticed you fixed all but that single one I mentioned in that range.

Yeah, rank versus exp... I think that's some of the same issues that Dogma deals with on the EGRL... it seemed, BTW, in some cases, that perhaps the reason they were out of order was their ranking LAST update, not this update. Maybe that was just a coincidence, though.
