Hello, I'm an up and comer. So I apologize if I forget to mention something else.
dude put in more thought into your reviews.
Could you be more specific..? I mean anyone could tell me that.
anybody can tell me a song is good in three sentences. you really think someone is going to learn from that?
Well I was asking a question. I'm not doing this to be a smart ass. It's just when you got onto me because my review in your opinion "Needed more thought." Your criticism of my review also needed more thought. Get it..? I mean you have to set an example first is all I'm saying.
I'm just gonna be really rude and cut in on your conversation and set a decent example of how artists of this community ought to treat one anothers' work.
Here are a few general points that I usually follow:
1. Listen to the song (obviously), and I mean LISTEN, don't just cut through half the thing and then build a review based on the fraction of the material you've observed.
2. Point out minor and/or major pros and cons.
3. (Optional) give the artist some tips on how to solve the problems. While you're at it, give them the names of artists that sound similar to the song you're reviewing. It might just help them get through the mixing process a little more easily.
4. *IMPORTANT*: You can criticize stuff without being a total dick.
Writing a good or at least decent review doesn't take so long. Make an effort to help others, and they will most likely act the same towards you and to the rest of the NG music community.
Thanks for reading. Take care.
