Meh, I couldn't think of anything else, I should have known better than to put Fantomas (seeing as I'm a huge fan).

God, most of you say you like metal yet none of you listen to Stoner Metal. And yes you should of included Doom metal. Drone could be included in doom, Viking included in Black metal.

Oh? The person who invented it, Bathory, didn't play black metal at the same time as viking metal. It was more like heavy metal than anything else.

He still forgot folk metal.

Ugh, YOU KNOW I'M NOT A BIG BLACK METAL FAN. Jeezuz, all of you should know that by now. And yes folk metal should be its own genre. Not all of it is black metal.

Did I imply you were? Just asking to get your history right. Viking metal, in its purest tradition, is an infusion of folk and heavy metal.

And yes folk metal should be its own genre. Not all of it is black metal.

Most of it is a mix between folk and avante garde, I've found.

Apparently Chuck had some pretty Metallica esque moments. Dave Baskh left because they were shit and punk and didn't want to write more Metally stuff.

Yes, to be fair, Chuck was a very metal influenced album IMHO. I'd even go as far as saying that I somewhat enjoyed it.

A friend of mine is a fan of theirs and showed me the "Chuck" album. And yes, there are a few Thrash riffs splattered around here and there. There was even one thrashtastic German-sounding Thrash break somewhere :P overall, it wasn't a very good album though.

Response to Metal Hell 2006-12-10 14:38:45

Long time since I last posted, I doubt anyone noticed anyway...

Doesn't matter, what does is I bought yet another Opeth album, Still Life. In addition to that I now have My Arms Your Hearse, Blackwater Park and Damnation. I love all the albums a lot and will surely get each one at some point.

I also started singing in a new group some time ago. Mostly jamming and such but the guitarist is pretty great. He likes COB- kind of fast-paced stuff and has lots of power metal feel in his own riffs. I think this might be a good chance to train my lyrical and vocal creativity. Our first song will have a classic heavy metal/power metal sound to it. Still, I'm trying to avoid writing too cheesy lyrics.... :P
