I haven't got a favourite genre. I listen to litterally any genre or subgenre, then I judge wheter I like the song or not.
I like some death metal, but I hate Opeth and Vader for instance.
I like some melodic shit, but I hate Children of Bodom and Amon Amarth is lame
I like some black metal, but I think Darkthrone is boring
I like some nu-metal, but Slipknot just plain sucks

I don't judge music by it's genre, or even performing artist (I just overally REALLY dislike the work of those mentioned above), I just listen to a song and see if I like it.

Wat do u mean u don't like the work mentioned above? I understand where ur coming from, and I don't really judge on catagory but hey, there has to be one overall all sound that you enjoy more than anything else.

Because it bored me to tears, with the exception of a few songs. Like Sanitarium or Fade to Black, along with a few others they make a fine listen. Most of their albums only have 1 or 2 nice songs anyway. In my opinion of course.

I'm going to have to agree there. I also think Metallica aren't all that great at all, but I do not abhor them with the intensity that Duffeknol/lamewhore does. However, my dad likes them quite a bit.

okay here is my opinion of older metal, i like black sabbath ( when tommi iommi was around) what about joe satriani hes from the the 80's when i think hard rock and other types of music were at their peak. i think the greatest music period was from the late 60's with bands such as the ramones ( i know their punk but still some songs are nice to listen to) and led zepplin ( cant forget them and jimmy page) all the way to sumwhere in the 90's. now its hard to listen to somekind of metal or EVEN hardrock BECUZ alot of the bands now are turning emo and wanna be punk. there singing like shit, they look like shit, they play like shit becuz there emo's, you cant find a radio station that play's hard rock( well in chicago we have 97.9 the loop wich plays hard rock and METAL) this is just my opinion and we should respect others opinions even if their diffrent from ours

My favourite sub genre would quite easily be thrash.
But Prog, Power, Death and Industrial are all other loves of mine.
And its always good when there is a mixture - Thrash/Death. Prog/Death and such. Which kinda reflects my two favourite bands at the moment - SYL and Opeth.

As far as subgenres I hate I don't really hate any. Metalcore has some shit in it, and so does Nu Metal and Alt Metal. But there are a few bands that are better than the rest - System of a Down and KSE to name a couple.

Metallica is overrated. The drummer sucks and everything else is just too standard. They're bore the fuck out of me. Everytime I listen to them, my mind goes somewhere else. Yes, I do like Thrash Metal, but mainly these bands old Sepultura, Annihilator, Megadeth, Slayer, Old Anthrax, Quo Vadis, GWAR (some songs), etc.
