I haven't heard that....What's it like?

It's enjoyable and quite musically sound melodic death metal. Nothing at all like their latest stuff, it's actually really good.

Sweet, because I've heard the entire good In Flames catalog, minus Lunar Strain/Subterranian and also Whoracle. Come Clarity was decent, but not like they're older stuff. I think that album suprised me as not being total shit.

Hedgehog - Dark Tranquillity....Mmm...favorite band.... Which one are you looking at?

I am planning on getting their Character album. Also, In Flames's newest albums suck especially SoundTrack To Your Escape. They sound Nu-Metal-ish now a days. Anyway, has anyone heard Hypocrisy's earlier albums?

BLASPHEMY!! I'm wearing my extra special Mayhem Tee when I'm saying that. Mayhem=gods. Hellhammer (the drummer)=god. If you happen to see Hellhammer on the street, offer him a blow job. If he refuses, get your girlfriend to blow him. If he still refuses, give him a giant check. He deserves it.

I have both Rocket Ride and Reckoning Night.

I have to say I think RN is definately the better of the two, but then I do think Sonata Arctica is a better band overall, and Tony Kakko has a better voice than Tobias Sammet.

Both are still very good records though, but I hate the artwork for RR! (Not very metal AT ALL!)

Well Edguy is almost always like that... you know, not really metal looking band. Just look at the Cow suit of Tobias Sammet. lol !!!

But I dont think that Tony Kakko have a better voice than Sammet. They are just really special in their own ways.

well, it's not exactly bad, if I were to be asked a quality of Merzbow it would be his originality, as he is, in fact, the ONLY guy I've listened to that actually makes noise.. but alas, I'm not that much fan of noise.. I gotta at least distinguish what I hear.. it's acquired taste I guess

It is an acquired taste. I find it to be a psychadelic mind trip. Often times, my mind will break it apart, and then I will have auditory hallucinations. The music plans stuff behind your back, then makes your eyes taste like shit. It's that chaos I love.

No. I can barely pay my rent. I live in a shitty El Sobrante apartment and I commute to San Francisco every day, and pay hella gas money. I can't afford much since they closed my shop called "The Stoner Stop", where i sold sandwiches, tacos, CD's, bongs, pipes, lighters, bluntwraps, hookahs, etc... and the cops shut it down. :( So now I do menial labour.

I actually liked that CD. It was FUCKING FAST and then I would get the totally awesome agoraphobic feeling as the CD came to a close. I love the post-nuclear feeling of the end of the CD, and the military march feeling of the beginning. It rawkks my sawkks.

....
I should keep my mouth shut about this one...

...too late! I agree on Limp Bizkit being a total poser wannabe-negro-band, plus their vocals mostly make me laugh for their sound.

BUT

Disturbed is not rapcore. There's nothing rapcore in that band anymore. The vocalist sings. There's no turntable-effect. There's no gangsta-clothing. There are no black members. There's no rap-message whatsoever(whatever that's supposed to be).
I agree, the first album had something rap-like, but after that the vocalist took some
singing lessons and even did a ballad on the second album! The point is: They've matured in sound alot and therefore don't deserve the "rapcore bullshit"- label.
(and you don't have to tell me they're not metal, I know it already)

I'm so sorry everyone, but although this IS Metal Hell, we shouldn't predjudise other genres blindly, since that's what metal itself has been suffering from so long: Bad name, for no reason other than something called "popular belief".

I'm so going to get it now... -_-' Oh well...

Why? You made a point. I don't really have prejudices against other genres, to be honest, there are two rap tracks I was a fan of many years ago and at some rare times I still like to listen to them, just for fun value. Hell, I mean MC's Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" and Busta Rhymes' "Break Ya Neck". yes, I still don't hate them. :P They are nothing worthwhile, just dumb fun.

Oh well. Ghoul, I just can't do much with Mayhem. I don't see the greatness. I never said they suck, though and they don't. They just ain't nothing for me :)

Anthrax's rap/metal combo in the early 90s is the only rap metal I like.

Some news considering my musical career...(haahaahaa!)

I'm starting to handle some pretty challenging pieces. Challenging for my voice, anyway.
I've extended my register alot this past year. Now I can pretty easily do Sonata Arctica's Broken , the song I had really much trouble with some time ago! Still, there are some pretty high notes I must get working by the end of this month, since those are needed in a couple of sings we're gonna play with my band. I guess I should ask some help from my music teacher for those really high notes... any advise you might wanna share?

And just to let you know, I've got a basic list of what we're gonna play out there:

WARNING! The following contains strong mainstream innuendos, which some elitist migh find offensive! ;) Viewer disctretion is advised.

Deep Purple - Black Night
Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers
Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water
Disturbed - Believe(damn high notes here!)
Disturbed - Voices
Metallica - Enter Sandman
Metallica - Orion
Opeth - In My Time Of Need
Porcupine Tree - Blackest Eyes
Porcupine Tree - Open Car
Rush - A Passage To Bangkok

The list would contain some Dream Theater IF we had some more strings in our instruments... :'( Still, I'm pretty happy with our band at the moment. We get to play most of the stuff we like, and that's what matters. Does anyone have any recommendations of what we could play seeing the current playlist? I know it's all pretty tame but I'm not a poser, and neither is anyone in the band. ;)

Response to Metal Hell 2006-04-04 15:24:57

Tuovila, the list is good, except for the 4 songs in the middle ;)

Since you're listing the stuff your band will play, I'll show the songs of my band, Coffinfeeder:

Amon Amarth - Death in Fire
Amon Amarth - Pursuit of Vikings
Amon Amarth - Down the Slopes of Death
All Shall Perish - Laid to Rest
Cock and Ball Torture - Another Arch Abraded
Graveworm - Hateful Design
Kataklysm - Serenity in Fire
Kataklysm - As I Slither
Rotting Christ - Fgmenth, Thy Gift
Coffinfeeder - Consumed From Within
Coffinfeeder - Hammer to the Head
