After listening to a few songs from the new Rotting Christ album, it feels lacking. I can't put my finger on it but it just feels hollow. I'm hearing old riffs and not a lot of emotion. It's just my opinion, but it feels like a puzzle where a few pieces fit together, but they don't make a picture. If that makes sense.

I just remembered I met Shannon fucking Lucas on friday, he reeks of awesome.

he's kinda short too ha :p

And we met the lead guitarist from The Faceless, he's fucking amazing, I watched him throughout their set and was in complete awe, he's ridiculously amazing, and a nice guy too, got a photo :)

Pics or didn't happen.

Also, I got two things to tell everybody. I've just recently been listening to Belphegor, they're above decent. Very good blackened death metal, just one of those bands that is so great to add to my collection.

Also, two. HOW DO I BUY CD///////

You make it sound like it's impossible.

Besides, The Faceless go on like ten tours a year.

I've heard the name Rotting Christ tossed around a bit in the Metal Hell. Who are they and what genre are they? What types of bands are similar to them? Just want some info to see if they are worth checking out.

They're one of the pioneer black metal bands. (Although I heard there 80's stuff is more grindcore than black metal)

Basically they can be compared with mostly all other black metal bands.

I saw Rotting Christ in January last year with Mantic Ritual and Epicurean.

It was only me, seven other guys and one girl - we were the only people that went.

So we got to hang out with the bands afterwards.

There was a massive snowstorm and it was a thursday.

rotting christ are basically the best Hellenic (greek) black metal band. They're similar to other black metal bands from Greece. Hellenic black metal is more melodic (but it's not melodic black metal by any means) and it's less focused on being kvlt and all that. Norwegian black metal is noisy and lo-fi and sounds kinda shitty, but Hellenic black metal sounds a little more... better, i guess. It's just something about it that sounds more cohesive.

So your saying that is sounds more clear. Well, if is really sounds better that Norwegian black metal it has to be reeeally good.

I think "supreme" isn't really a subgenre but more of a positive opinion. I may be wrong.

I aprove...

However, I like the subgenre division(blackned, technickal, ...)even if It's complicated sometimes (with the grey's area band lol), but if I want to find something specific in a major genre of metal, this become really usefull.

Rotting Christ, despite the name, is the fucking shit. And I heard one song from their new album. I liked it. Agatus, Zemial, and Varathron are good hellenic bm, too, especially Agatus. And Necromantia is alright.

It's true. A lot of the stuff is really bad. You have to dig and dig until you find one band that isn't horrible. Of course there's plenty of good stuff, too, but that's just because there's so much through which to dig. That's why I don't blame those who roll their eyes when they find out I listen to black metal.

Also, I have another question. HOW DO I BUY CD//////

what? Do you really not know how to purchase an album?

I sometimes get the feeling that a lot of kids in Norway think that they're going to be amazing artists when it comes to the genre just because of where they're from. It's like people in the southern states that think they're good country artists because they're rednecks.

I listen to tons of Norwegian black metal. 1349, Tsjuder, Gorgoroth, Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Blodsrit, Urgehal etc...I love them all. They have a lot of brutality and awesomeness, despite the fact that they are not the most clean-sounding, who cares?

what? Do you really not know how to purchase an album?

I've been downloading my music forever. I'm not listening to much mainstream music anymore, so it's getting tougher and tougher. Now I know I'm going to have to be spending my money. Barely anybody in New York nowadays listens to metal, so buying it at a local store is out of the question.

There are so many albums I want to buy, but I know i'll have to buy it through amazon and everything. The thing is, I can't, because I live in a box and I'm struggling for food. I've been eating insects and mud lately, therefore I really can't afford music - it could mean my life.

This year seems horrible, the only band on the friday I enjoy is Baroness.

I want to go to the Saturday one for Amon Amarth, Skeletonwitch, Eluveite, 1349 and Swashbuckle but due to the massive amount of shittie bands playing also, i'm sort of tempted to sit this fest out all together.

Shame, i've always gone to AT LEAST one of the two days every ANEM+HF. since the 4th one. (This one's the 12th)

First year I won't be going to either days, this fest is selling out just like Mayhem fest, Graspop and sonisphere...

Oh well, there's still Maryland Deathfest.

On a serious note, I'm thinking of getting a job, and specifically buying albums with the money. Then again, I could get hundreds of fleshlights, but I guess that will have to wait. Goddamn I'm only fucking 15.

Now I need some blackened death metal bands, I'm starting to love the mix and I need more than 4. Here are the current ones I'm listening to:

Behemoth
Dissection
Belphegor
Goatwhore
