Of course not but of all the songs they've made, why link to Kids of the Century? Pink Bubbles Go Ape is their worst album.

Can anyone recommend any good straight up metal bands, preferrably similar to Iron Maiden. I've basically taken it upon myself to listen to their entire discography (excluding Blaze albums and live albums) and it has rekindled my love of the style of the band. Any suggestions (besides Bruce's solo work, Iced Earth, and Judas Priest) would be welcome.

Israeli metal ftw.
I've been saying that for awhile. Which album did you get by them?
None, i listen to their stuff online. Mostly to the album Mabool. I really like the elements from arabic music.

Yeah, that's the album I bought from them. It's pretty much the album that got me into folk metal, even though there are really no other folk metal bands like them. I haven't really heard any stuff from their other albums though. Are they any good?

Hey guys I am just listening to Black Sun Aeon and I am enjoying a lot, do you like them? I am listening to the album "Darkness Walks Beside Me", excelent...

Yes, listening to this song on Halloween has become mandatory for me. Infact, I'm listening to the Keepers albums as I'm typing this.

Listening to: Helloween - Halloween

Response to Metal Hell 2009-10-31 18:15:01

Which of the three Keepers albums? I enjoy all three of them, but I think the first one is the best.

Oh, I recently discovered a progressive melodic death metal band called Into Eternity. They're pretty awesome, and I suggests checking them out.

The Legacy has a few weak tracks but it's still a great album, most especially when it has epics like The King for a 1000 Years and The Invisible Man. Also, I agree with you. The first one is the best. Infact, it's my very favourite metal album.

HAPPY FUCKING HALLOWEEN

Sorry about that. Anyway, I downloaded so much of Behemoth on my iPod, I didn't even hear all of their songs. All I know is, their fucking sick.

Besides that, I need some more metal bands to listen to. Someone recommend me anything of melodic, black, thrash, or death metal that's not on my list so far:

Amon Amarth
Arch Enemy
Behemoth
Blood Red Throne
Cannibal Corpse
Carnal Forge
Children of Bodom
Cradle of Filth
Cryptopsy
Deathchain
Deicide
Devildriver
Dew-Scented
Dimmu Borgir
Dying Fetus
Gwar
Hypnosia
In Flames
Insomnium
Kataklysm
Lamb of God
Meshuggah
Metallica
Moonspell
Nile
Scarve
The Scourger
Septic Flesh
Sepultura
Sinners Bleed
Slayer
Sodom
Suffocation
Trigger The Bloodshed
Vader
Venom

Response to Metal Hell 2009-10-31 19:00:59

I suggest:
Gojira
Opeth
Kreator
Into Eternity
Strapping Young Lad
Death Angel
Dark Angel
Morbid Angel
Death
DragonLord
Dark Funeral
Iron Maiden
Megadeth
Testament
Wintersun
Atheist

Yeah, those should last you a while.

I prefer the second. Just because of the title track is better than Halloween.
Which are the only two songs I genuinely care about from those albums.

Technically not Metal though.
Though I am a fan, I don't really care about them splitting, as I don't rate their albums THAT highly and I've already seen them live.

I think the general view is Mathcore.
I consider them Prog Metal but I want to defend a British Metal band as being Tr00. But they have a huge -core influence.

Their most popular song is Bland Street Bloom, give that a listen. That's one of their more straight up songs, then they have songs like Tupelo which isn't metal at all. Very hard band to classify.

I have both their albums. I'm well aware of their material.

Opeth have songs like Harvest, and albums like Damnation. That being an unMetal song is irrelevant.
But they're a -corey band. Unless you want to defend their honour - like I do.

As I said Mathcore.

Bit of confusion here, my post was supposed to be directed at Zodir, I quoted yours to reinforce the difficulty of putting them in a genre. I'd much rather call them Prog Metal than -core, they are a bit -corey but overall it's more progressive than -core. Also -core sucks.

So Insomnium went ahead and decided their music needed some faggy melodeath clean vocals and you know what... I love them. I wish they didn't but they grew on me. Anyone else heard their new album? A guy on MA reviewed it and said it made him feel like melodic death was just invented yesterday and he's right. Catchy as hell.

Yesterday I went to the best concert of all my miserable life, the guys were so cool... They play Blackened Death Metal in my opinion, their name is Artcore and they're just excelent. I don't have words to describe such masterpiece. Check out their myspace http://www.myspace.com/artcoremusic

And there was also another band, Metalcore/Melodic Death Metal, pretty excelent too, sound like All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, a little bit The Human Abstract and their stage presence is probably as good as Lamb of God. Their name is Don't Disturb My Circles and here is their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/dontdisturbmycirc les

There was another band called Iodine but I could not see them because it was late, check out their myspace too: http://www.myspace.com/iodinepbcc

Portugal has good bands too... it's lame the Portuguese Recorders don't invest on them...

That's a fair opinion as the epics are their best songs.

I gave Pentagram a listen to a while ago but couldn't get myself interested. I did give Trouble a listen to just before and I'm enjoying it. I'm still hoping to get into more doom metal.

Planet Gemini.
Damn fine band.

If they're like the aforementioned bands and their albums are free, I might as well get them.

Thats my attitude too. But I still reckon to everyone else they're Mathcore :P.

Indeed. It's not to say I don't like stuff like 'I Want Out' and 'Eagle Fly Free'. Its just, all the other songs really pale in comparison to those beasts.

Hey, I am new to NG and I was looking around and saw this club and thought it would be a cool place to start. some stuff that I listen to are: Opeth, Cannibal Corpse, Testament, Dream Theater, and Lamb of God. Those are just a few of my favorites. Is it cool if I join?

I just got the only full length and only EP by Tartaros yesterday. I haven't listened to both completely through, but it's some very good black metal.

Alright, that's cool. I don't like Bring me the Horizon and Waking the Cadaver is just funny bad. Most of the deathcore bands kind of sound like Cannibal Corpse wannabes.

I have recently determined that Gojira is my third favorite band, ever. I have listened to From Mars to Sirius and The Way of All Flesh like they were essential requirements to my religion, and once I recovered from that, I listened to The Link and Terra Incognito with a slightly less fanatical devotion. After discovering this, I need some similar bands (besides Meshuggah). Is there anyone even like them?
