Yeah they do.
Also, new Stratovarius as well as sounding like what i said before, add Elements Pt. 1 to the list. The last song is basically Soul Of A Vagabond with different lyrics.
for the Stratovarius fans, like Bahamut.

On metal-archives, it's got an average score of 8%... out of 15 reviews. Ouch.
I was hoping there'd be more hatred to the album by now.

Good, good. That shall be the next album I'll get. Hopefully I can find the album next week in London for a good price.
I hope Sense-Offender is happy. :))
Awesomeness!

Mayhem fucking rules! They were the second real black metal band¸, I think (Bathory was the first, Venom was trash metal with satanic lyrics). De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is one of the best album

I dunno about this avant-garde stuff... Maybe. Sticking to black and folk mainly. And that uber tech shit like Spastic Ink and Behold... The Arctopus.
And seriously you guys who the fuck doesn't know Dissection. But i'll check out those recs.

I have no love for the latest Opeth album.
There is nothing wrong with the album. Its great.
But without Peter, as I said, I have no love. I'm generally not a fan of musicians being replaced in bands, not in the time I know of the band anyway.
That and the new fellow used to be in Arch Enemy.
I'm seeing these guys tonight.

About time I got myself another Symphony X album and I'm really impressed at this. I should pick up their other albums soon, so it's either V: The New Mythology Suite or Paradise Lost next.
I'm actually buying Paradise Lost in a little bit. I heard a sample, it sounds so powerful and fast. Isn't that the best?
eh.
Today I went to a skateboard contest and there were some guys listening to crappy music (rap and avenged sevenfold) through their car. so me and my friends listened to some Venom and Vader with our car, but louder than them... so they stopped their music. it was funny

Only on Grand Declaration Of War. After that they go back to mostly Straight-up Black Metal.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.
I just recently started to realize the full epicness of Symphony X, i've listened to them for about a year but I didn't realize how amazing their songs are. (And their lyrics are godly)
All in all I think Paradise Lost might just be my favorite album by them and one of my all time favorite albums.
Also, its been a really long time since I last posted here.

It was originally going to be a Stratovarius album, but things didn't work out with Tolkki and the others, so he recorded the album with another band.
Also, iTunes thought that album was actually by Stratovarius? Wow, fuck them.

I heard Domination and it sounds great!
Isn't that the best?
Their best album? An older fan would probably say no, but someone who only discovered them after Paradise Lost came out will probably say yes.
Seriously, did Symphony X become 10x more popular than ever after the release of their latest album or am I imagining it?
Symphony X are alright to me.
Nothing special, the lyrics are often good and the vocal harmonies they do are very cool. But when they do long songs they can be a bit boring due to instrumental sections. I find them a bit monotonous.
They are amazing live though. Romeo is obviously amazing at guitar and Allen's voice and professionalism are very commendable :).
I'm gonna listen to The Odyssey
Damn, I hadn't even looked at your conversation before I posted my last post here, i'm completely shocked you guys were already talking about symphony X!
Wow.

They did support Dream Theater. That might of done something for their popularity here in the UK.
I really doubt Paradise Lost is all that good. The songs I heard from it did not interest me. And I've heard people say it seems to have a bit of a groove metal influence, and my experiences with groove metal are not good. The best example I can think of is the Machine Head album I heard a while ago. It was horrible and I had to sit through the whole thing because my friend bought it and wanted to listen to it.

That's disgusting.
Based on the songs I have (and that I listened to before and thoroughly enjoyed) I'd say the best album is surely Divine Wings of Tradegy. Surely.
My Mum heard some of their stuff while I was listening and she likes them now too :).

My dad heard me listening to some Angra, and he liked it enough to start talking about the Mahavishnu Orchestra (i'm not sure how he got to that subject).

You're not really a death metal fan are you? No Suffocation or Cryptopsy? Fail.
Also missing Amon Amarth, Nihilist, Meshuggah and Gorguts.
Entombed is a very tragic band - Left Hand Path was a masterpiece but from there they completely lost it.
Morbid Angel's first few (I think up until Covenant) are killer but they've gone downhill too.
Dismember is boring - They've been doing the exact same thing from their debut to the present - and it wasn't at all that impressive to begin with.
Obituary's first two records are must-haves. You can get them as a two-pack from most online stores. Don't know much about their work after that.
Ok, this is my post.
~And66rewu Posted!
I know mostly everything from Obituary (with the exeption of "Back From The Dead" because I didn't quite like that record). As for Death Metal vinyl, I've got Obituary's first three records, Master's first two records, Possessed "Seven Churches", Massacre "From Beyond", Benediciton "Dark Is The Season", and Death's first three records. Yes, it's possible for someone my age to get hold of that stuff. I know who Suffocation, Nihilist and Gorguts are. It says under the list "..and more". I come from Tampa, FL and I know my old school Death Metal. There are about twenty other bands that I didn't mention. Angelcorpse, Master, Messiah, Grave ("You'll Never See" is my favorite), Unleashed (I have their first three records and one of their demo's), etc. Just because I don't care for some of the newer ones dosn't mean otherwise. If you where paying attention, the key word is "old school". You say I fail? No, I think you fail.
My introduction to Thrash metal:)
