Nu-Metal was born by fusing Metal with Hip-Hop.
I would also like to point out that Thrash was born by mixing Heavy Metal with Punk during the 80's.
Both Thrash and Nu-Metal were formed by mixing two completly diffrent styles of music.
I belive it is just another sub-genre of metal, this is because it has metal in it, as well as rap, which makes it sound like CRap.

whilst i am not a fan of the nu metal genre i do acknowledge it as a sub genre of metal but i think that most of the music within it is shite, but there is one band i like a little bit, !!slipknot!!, and that is earlier stuff, but other then that the rest is mainly pig balls

A lot :) Especially while playing the guitar. It's a must :) My neck is used to it so it almost never hurts.

BTW, my band is going to cover Amon Amarth's "Pursuit of Vikings". It's going to be great, hopefully, just need to wait for my repaired amp....

Lol.
Most people who like/listen to rap are too lazy to look for better music... so they just listen to whatever is popular. Its sad really.

Hehe, good to see you again, too bad you are gone, once again.
But RageofOrder is right, how can you be that busy? =P
Yeah, Headbanger is fine to me, still :) Things are going great with my band, too. We'll have our first little gig in late June.

have fun kids, take care of each other, and please don't let the nu-metal idiots take over.

We had a time with lots of nu-wankers, but it's much better now :)

n.p. - the greatest opeth song of all time : the leper affinity

One of the greatest, indeed.

Well, see you soon, hopefully!

BTW, to all the guys who play the guitar, what's your guy's amp? I've got a crappy Behringer GM110 Ultraroc with 30W and some below-average multi-effects. It's currently out of order, I'm sending it back tomorrow for repairs.

But I see a bright light in the near future, I'm saving up for this baby: a Line 6 Spider II 112

It's got 75 Watts and a 12 inch speaker, 4 channel settings: Clean, Crunch, Metal and Insane and also the most important effects and I can use 3 at the same time.

It's the ultimative Metal-Amp in that class :)

Can't wait for it:

Power Metal-Man'O'War, they single handedly shaped the whole powerfull Viking look in Power Metal.

Black Metal: Dark Throne. Raw, pure, and the sole band to rise the Black Metal flag in its original form. Many have imitated, many have been influenced, none have surpassed.

Black Metal: Immortal have clearly taken their part of the symphonic black metal founders.

Power Metal: Helloween, for sure, one of the first to implement that style and highly influental, or you can take Blind Guardian as well.

Why should I? :) I do like some Industrial and some Gothic as well, but not as much. As an example, The Kovenant = Industrial Black Metal, they are nice to me.

I haven't heard of the others...

I think it could be, but I don't know. I didn't catch it, since it's something I'm listening on radio stream.

Well, if you think you'll go off metal for a while, you should listen to Amon Amarth's "Pursuit of Vikings" first ;)

Hmm.. I seem to be busy with school, and holding down two jobs, yet I manage to post almost every day. Only a wanker can be that busy that they cannot even post on the metal hell thread...and i i was that wanker.

its not always a matter of busy. sometimes i am not busy, but am also not at my computer. i'll be out and about and all that. its also that i haven't had a chance to check out any new metal bands lately. my school network does not allow me to connect to any p2p programs and i don't like to buy music with out hearing it first. i have gotten a few things through itunes (with which i use the program mytunes to download things off other computers on the school network) but no one is really into the metal, so my metal knowledge is about the same as it was when this great establishment known as metal hell began. i know there are probably some ways that i could get new stuff (like from rage and radiogrounds (if that is even around anymore)), but that is where the business of busy comes in. even if i was able to hear something i liked, i promised myself i would no longer buy CDs because i hate them so much. i now only buy vinyl unless the record is to rare or just wasn't released on vinyl and that makes it difficult because i have to quest out record shops. (in case anyone was wondering vinyl is often cheaper with new records being around 10 bucks as compared with 15 for CDs) . enough of this though. i shall try to post if i can and it works. it won't be often though, so don't get your hopes up.

I got a small Fender's Squire Strat Amp (Came with my guitar)
It isnt that good, and as for sound I have a Turbo Tube Screamer, it provides the Distortion and Overdrive I need, but my amp can barely take it, if i turn the volume of on the amp, with the pedal on, if i turn it higehr then 2, it would blow up my fucking speakers.

Definetely Helloween for power metal.

Power: Helloween and Manowar, both influenced power metal in diffrent ways:
Helloween=Power/Speed Metal
Manowar=Power/Heavy Metal
Black: Probably Immortal and Emperor.
