Yeah, some of that is true. But not all of it. You were cool, but in a different way. To me there has been a tangible change in attitude. That's why I wrote what I did.
X, I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to Kidd. Yeah, I liked black metal too, so it's possible a musically educated person could like bm. But all I'm saying is that as far as the musicians go, prog/power/heavy metallers tend to be more musically literate than bm/dm'ers. First off, you can't defend screaming. It's not musical. Don't try to tell me it's musical. Don't even try, because that will discredit you immediately.
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding but I won't re-neg on what I said. You are right, power metal and clean vocals are much more musically literate, in every sense of the word. I'm aware of that, and I respect that. Black metal isn't even my favorite genre anymore anyway, death metal is. I just think it isn't as bad as it was made out to be. Look at Emperor - they are credible musicians, though they are the exception and not the norm. Well done clean vox can severely compliment the music, but so can growls - I direct you to the two Mikaels - Akerfeldt and Stanne. Both have used (effectively, in my opinion) clean and growled vocals, and both highlight different motifs. I agree it may not be the most technically right, or always to most pleasing to listen to (generally speaking, but honestly, I love both of them - platonically).
If I want a good musicianship fix, I'll listen to some technical death. At that point its simply a matter of personal preference, which is fine with me. I haven't lost all respect for you, but there really is a tangible difference in both attitude and behavior. Maybe its my nostalgia speaking, maybe it isn't. Didn't you know I love prog anyway?

Not really. But when my child is born, I'm gonna sing her a metal song. I'm not sure which one yet. Probably a ballad if I don't want a fucked up kid. Lol
I wanted to do something like that, IDEA STEALER!
It would be awesome to though.

New discoveries:
*Mortification (Death)
*Thunderstone (Power)
*Wintersun (Viking-y power-ish melodic heavy metal, as it sounds to me)
I need moar recommendations, preferably that satanic, blackened twice over, brutally beaten, death by a fire in the depths of helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll metal.

Belphegor - Hell's Ambassador
Crucifixus - Anus Dei
Cremation of Holiness
Bleeding Salvation
Untergang der Gekreuzigten
Diaboli Virtus in Lumbar Est
Those are my absolute favourites by them.
Although I think most pure black metal is shit, I do like some black/blackish stuff.

Old discovery is old. Wintersun is my third metal band, after Nightwish and Týr. Excellent band/one man project, though.
For the record,
Speaking of future shows, I'm seeing Suffocation with Immolation and Skinless this Sunday, and most likely I will see Rotting Christ, Immolation, Belphegor and Averse Sefira as well in February. I was thinking about going to the Brooklyn Xecution Festival next month, but I'm not familiar with most of the bands except for Obituary and Incantation, so I might skip that one.

I would be going to 3 Inches of Blood next Monday, but cannot due to the fact that it is a Monday and I have no money whatsoever

I've never liked new black metal bands like them. I like my black metal in the early 90's. Or late eighties even. I just got Isengard's "Spectres over Gorgoroth". I'm starting to get a real love of black/death from the eighties, like early Celtic Frost, Mayhem's Deathcrush, and early Bathory. Can someone recommend me some stuff like that? Or point me as to where I can download some Hellhammer?

Well, I got bored and made a rehearsal demo for Sorgvind, and it sucks. BUT, I have made a brand new demo that I want you to do drum tracks for. I'll upload it now.

That's the last band I wanted to see. I'd rather see Holy Moses, then Obituary. John Tardy <3.

Gorgoroth - Antichrist
AND on the subject of live shows.... I just found out that Immortal are coming to Australia. And they're coming to Perth, a mere 500 km from where I live. Problem is the Perth gig isn't all ages, and the only places where they're playing all ages gigs is Sydney and Adelaide.
So i'm gunna beg my arse off to go to Adelaide next year, and try and get the tickets this weekend.
Seriously, if I get to see Immortal.... God, that would be fucking awesome. I need to think of some good things to shout to Abbath.

GO! I saw them at BB Kings. My best friend shook hands with both Abbath and Apollyon. The show was amazing, one of the best shows I've ever been to. Immortal has a great stage presence. Seriously well worth the money (we didn't pay for tix har har har and they were 100 bucks a pop har har har).

There was a change, it was just in the music I listen to. Since all music genres aren't symmetrical, of course there was a change in attitude about music; but the core of me never changed, and you're still talking to the same guy you thought was cool. I haven't changed, I've just overcame my teenage angst. It was long time due, but I'm not really angry anymore, just full of contempt.

Moving on...
I've been away most of this week because my damned computer broke down. >:(
During this times I've gotten myself into some: V:28, Summoning, DOOM:VS and Deathspell Omega.
Anything been happening much that I've missed out on?

I understand that. Its something I can't put my finger on, but its cool. Hell, I probably seem different to you, and I am. I'm sure things are much different now than a year and a half ago (give or take).

I don't mind a few power metal bands. I'm pretty fond of Kamelot, Iced Earth, Therion (close enough, dammit) and Manowar, though for different reasons each. I know there are better examples, those are probably pop in the power metuhl circle, but I don't care, so spare me (directed to the powerfag noobs that will try to run with the fact that I listen to a small amount of power metal, despite my general dislike of it).
Of course there's a difference in behavior. I quit drinking lol. And a lot of it is your nostalgia for a black metal Ghoul, and Black metal Ghoul is dormant.
I might hit you up on MSN sometime, if the nick hasn't changed, to discuss some stuff- just because I don't want to bog the hell down with decent discussion. As far as the nostalgia goes, its true and it isn't. Frankly I don't care as much about black metal as I used to, so I don't think that's only it. I just think you were a little bit more open. Maybe not, you were a prick back then too. :p
