The powers that be say that he is not Metal though.
And all fairness, he does some Metally stuff, but mainly its not... and he's a composer... so I suppose its different.
And "one winged angel" eh ;).
Queer.
Ermm...
Metal Hell, I just picked up my dad's old acoustic a week ago and want to learn to play guitar.
I've learned, like, 7 chords so far cause I fail.
What do you guys suggest I do now (besides learning more chords)? I want to play metal eventually.
And should I have posted in the guitarist's crew instead?

Just stick to the basics for now. Can't do much else without them.
And Master of Puppets is a good song for learning to play Metal.
Its how I got into the style.
Dream Theater have some cool stuff too which isn't too difficult, but sounds ace. Erotomania, Pull Me Under are examples.
Also Opeth will show you that basic chords are good in Metal too :).
OMG and classical music is apparently all the rage... though I don't dwell on it myself.
And should I have posted in the guitarist's crew instead?
Probably.

Someone else likes them? Awesome! They aren't too popular with people by me. Born To Die has to be my favorite song. Anyway, non-metal artists:
A-Ha (Take On Me is so damn catchy)
AC/DC (They're disputed between metal and hard rock)
Aerosmith (disputed between hair metal and classic rock)
Afroman (Because I got high...)
Bad Religion (I love Tiny Voices)
Bob Marley (Reggae is kick ass)
Cheap Trick (I have an In Color vinyl)
Dealey Plaza (One of them is an NG member)
Deep Purple (Always good to smoke to)
The Distillers (City Of Angels)
The Donots (They've got the noise)
The Doors (Morrison was a genious)
Dropkick Murphys (*Downing a shot of whiskey as a saute to their awesomeness*)
Duran Duran (Lol 80's)
Enter The Haggis (Canadian Celts)
Flogging Molly (First discovered them while playing a Tony Hawk game)
Foo Fighters (Always coming out with something good)
Fort Minor (Remember The Name is one of the greatest modern raps around)
Genesis (Phil Collins on his own blows, but part of Genesis he = a god)
George Thorogood (Excellent drinking music)
Jimi Hendrix (Anyone wanna drop acid?)
Johnny Cash (The man in black)
Leftöver Crack (We were indeed born to die)
Linkin Park (Fuck you)
Lynyrd Skynyrd (True southern rock)
Michael Jackson (When he was black)
Misfits (Who doesn't like 'em?)
Mistah Fab (More rap)
Modest Mouse (Smoke up and float on)
Motörhead (Actually hard rock, not metal)
Nirvana (Grunge...)
NOFX (Punk is almost as kickass as metal)
ThePolice (Sting sucks on his own)
Queen (One of the greatest classic rock bands ever)
The Ramones (One of the most popular of all punk bands)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (Strangely, I didn't like Stadium Arcadium)
Reel Big Fish (Ska)
Rise Against (Punk again)
Rolling Stones (Old as fuck rockers)
Rush (Geddy Lee is a great vocalist)
Sex Pistols (Anarchy inspiration)
Stamper (Never heard raps like his before in my life, don't expect too)
Story of the Year (Blow me)
Streetlight Manifesto (Extremely popular ska band)
Thin Lizzy ("Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak")
Unwritten Law (I don't know why I like them)
Weird Al (Always a laugh)
Yellowcard (What?)
ZZ Top (Sharp dressed men with long beards)
I must seem like a lame-ass right now.

What a sweety. :)
They're good... though my attention tends to wander whilst listening to any of the songs but Pure... which is Pure (rolf) aceness :D.
They'll settle in eventually... hopefully... maybe. I think the entire album is equally ace. Even the disposable intro/outro and they're nothing but about a combined 6 minutes of cheesy "space" sounds.
?
Is it just me, or does Jon Oliva's voice sound scratchy as hell (not that there's anything wrong with that)?

I've only listened to them as background music, didn't really take it in. But when I did, I liked.

Thanks. Glad to see one opinion here, and the fact that it doesn't suck is a plus.

That's all I can think of from the top of my head.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.
