DAY 13
DAY 14
DAY 15
Gonna finish these off in two parts.
Congrats everyone who did the 31. I promise these were all done the day of and can be verified on my twitter and instagram.
I got a lil project coming soon that I hope will inspire you guys. I'll get more into that tomorrow or Thursday hopefully.
ANYWAY
Day 19
Getting pulled back in.
Day 20
Corrupted land. I will admit the vertical landscape drawings like this are a bit of a copout for me, since I return to them so often. But hey, it works.
Day 21
CRIT! I wish I had more time to really work out the bodies and perspective on this one, but I was down to the last two hours when I started this one.
Day 22
This is really rough because it was done in a car on the way to a wedding in Arizona. It was quite a day.
Day 23
I had just gotten back from Arizona and was very exhausted, So yeah, not super involved.
Day 24
A house. Loosely based on invader Zim's. I believe most of this day was spent on commissions so not a lot of time to get too down in it. A RECURRING THEME
Day 25
Giant steals the moon
Day 26
It Me
For like four hours I sat at my desk and sketched out a bunch of thumbnails and even made some pencil progress but nothing was coming together so I went with this and went to sleep.
Day 27
The theme recurs
Day 28
Found a bit of time that day, faces and monsters
Day 29
More of the horror stuff
Day 30
Curly hair
Day 31 finale
Happy halloween jam.
Spent a lot of time, had to cancel some plans and rushed the end a bit. Good Times.
Work in progress on a painting I started yesterday.

I'm still working on the fish painting thing.
I'm currently five days into a year of attempted daily stream over on my Twitch. Here are the past five days of drawing.
I'm gonna update the thread more going forward, probably every day or every other day.
Day One: Watercolor and ink
Day Two: Marker ink and gouache (I hadn't used markers for about a year so whoooops).
Day Three: I inked a sketch from a few months ago.
Day Four: All ink character guy. Nemesis of this older drawing
Day 5: Quick ink robot barbarian as a complete companion piece to a larger vain attempt at getting free Red Bull.
ALSO DAY 5: My Redbull Scheme begins, pencils.
The last two days from my TWITCH streams.
The redbull is partially inked and I'm shooting for a Saturday completion.
Colored Pencil - Monster Guy
From tonight
Ink, watercolor, pocketbrush

Turns out drawing for an average of like five hours everyday takes up a lot of mental bandwidth. Anyway, I'm 45 days in to my 2021 dailies and it's been going really well. I feel like I've gotten a much more streamlined method of illustration; and since I'm doing it everyday, experimentation is a lot easier to bother with.
I'm gonna post up a few of my favorites from the past forty or so days, all of the other drawings I've done are up in my gallery.
My usual process on these is hitting the ground running and beginning the sketch on the paper on the stream. Only like four have had any thumbnails or preliminary sketching.
Here's a link to my twitch I'm streaming every day over there, no set time unfortunately, but on most days I'm on around 4:00pm PST and stream for a few hours. I try to engage as much as possible with chat, so if you have any questions about art I can give some insight, so you know. there's that.
ANYWAY onto a few pieces I like.
The Wretched Bird from Day 17. I believe this one started a bit difficult. I wasn't sure what I was going to do and was just drawing a series of circles and lines all over the paper. @spags was in the chat and told me "Birds" so I went with it
The Witch Dealing with some Ghosts from Day 26. It was a lot of fun and evolved quite a bit from the sketch if I remember correctly.
From Day 35, Seek Communion. I've been working on getting better at depicting distance and scale in my work the past few months and I think this one depicted that pretty well.
๏ปฟFrom Day, 38 Balloon Ride. This was the second test of some really nice watercolors a friend got for me. I've been using cheapo watercolors for the past eight years, and have burdened myself with the knowledge of how juicy quality watercolor is.

The ballon one has to be my absolute favorite of the bunch as it reminds me of the weird, surreal faces my dad used to draw.
Thanks, drawing every day allows, and kind of forces me, to really experiment and do a lot variety in mediums, compositions, subject matter etc. If nothing else to keep things fresh for myself.
Speaking of, there seems to be a pattern arising where every few days are sort of different takes on similar takes. Here are the past two days, both being spacey, but pretty different in all the other ways.
It is hard to maintain the presence of mind to update this thing.
ANYWAY
82 days into the daily challenge, pretty cool stuff.
here are some of the dailies I'm most proud of since last posting in the thread:
A fun little Jester to kick off spring done with markers and a lil bit of colored pencil - for flavor. I've decided to end every month with a jester drawing.
What started off as a rhombus frame to not have to draw as much and save time turned into an extended marker piece that took a lot longer than I had hoped, but I do like it.
Mondays have become Fanart fMondays, Soul Reaver is a huge piece of my childhood and shaped a good amount of my aesthetic values so I had to spend an extended amount of time on it. I believe this was done in like four three hour sessions or so. Colored Pencil.
And for the last of my link showcase: @test-object, @linda-mota, @thepsychosheep and I have begun a little project of one page at a time, telephone comic thing. Here's my first contribution to it, PAGE 3.
I stream drawing these every day on my twitch so if you're looking for some background noise, I've been told it's good for that. Also chillin is good and when the chat gets going there's been some really good convos going.
Anyway, here are some WIPs I got going right now,
Fan art based on Lemon Demon's song Cabinet Man. Right now the color is colored pencil. I'm considering marker for the background, but haven't decided the direction.
This one doesn't have a title but is inspired by the work of Polish painter Zdzisลaw Beksiลski I rediscovered his work recently and remembered that I meant to look into it more. Fantastic depiction of scale, definitely a favorite.

Thanks, definitely need to do some more extended streams in the colorful nature category in the future.
Also may as well throw in tonight's daily while I'm here
It's an UPDATE to the thread. Wow.
So I just wrapped up day 117 of the daily stream over on twitch.tv/sourcherryjack and I gotta say, it's pretty chill. Hard at times to get the willpower to get up and stream sometimes, but overall a ton of art that would have never existed if I didn't take on this year of daily art project. I think maybe on average 1.5 times a week I'll do a drawing that I think has absolutely zero value and is straight up to fill the day which, honestly is a pretty great ratio that I do expect to go up as my workload increases.
Anyway, I'm gonna throw up some links to my favorites from the past few weeks.
First and foremost Day 100, a big one! Sat down on stream for about seven hours inking this massive guy.
Next up Day 99, not quite 100, but it's got a baller ass song with the number in the title. I dance like a motherfucker on 80's night at da club when this comes on.
Gotta include the Cabinet Man on a highlight reel. 4 sessions, about 4-5 hours each, colored pencil what a jam. Based on the song "Cabinet Man" by Lemon Demon
Rise of the Feesh. Marker and colored pencil. A major personal choice, started off wanting to scribble an octopus, decided it was too obvious and pivoted halfway through the sketch. Really fun one, unfortunately I was running low on a lot of my markers.
It's Flora Fae, your fashionable fairy bae!! I haven't drawn a lot of fashion stuff lately (which is what I went to school for) so it was fun to just do that. I tend to use fairies as my croquis when doing women's fashion.
I've been periodically flirting with the v a p o r w a v e a e s t h e t i c for the past few years. Not the easiest thing for me to draw considering the time and straight lines needed to make the computer aesthetic and amount of time roman statues take to render. But this was a fun one
Last one, the one from last night. It started as a vague Pagan woodland god being. @radiodark popped in and mentioned Cernunnos and who am I to argue afterall. This one felt like a major progress milestone. I think this took about two hours to finish, from sketching and finding the idea to pencils, to inking. I'm very happy with the way it turned out and the short amount of time it took really felt like the prior 115 days really came together in the process of this.
Moving forward my etsy store will be up by the end of the week with a handful of original pieces and going into the next month I'll be getting some prints going.
For the forum here, on Saturday, unless anything else pops up I'll be hosting an art whore thread and here and streaming the drawings from 12:00pm (california time) to however late I decide I want to take (california time) on the twitch channel.
Alright very cool, see you around!
O shit 12 years as of the 29th
redraw (from memory) of the Meat-Head that started it all.
O wowieee digital art.
(lol at that compression)
I really put off updating this thread.
The daily art of 2021 was a success, I got the Art Portal Submissions Gallery to prove it.
Anyway, this year I'm going to focus more on dedicating time to building myself up in my art skills in fundamentals, workflow, general focus on project and time management.
I'm spinning a few plates right now, but I have a little comic/Zine in the works, and am gonna try to keep up with more digital art practice.
I will be doing an Art Whore Thread this Saturday, the 15th. I'll launch it at around noon and be streaming it on the twitch so drop in and check that out. I'll check back in a bit.
Here's a lil hour and a half scribble trying to remember how to use ClipStudioPaint.
Been chilling a bit lately.
Here's a cat adventurer
Here's some inky woods
Update painting of a sketchier one from last year
Original
its like the more time passes the harder it is to update the old thread isnt it, i wonder why it feels like that. perhaps the perspective to see how transient it all is....(oh no this post made a whole new page, sorry)

lol
Yeah, I was actually thinking about that as I was bumping this today. I think for me it's that I don't document sketches or have as many questions about the direction my learning process is going these days. Most of my time in the forum is responding to threads. Sharing what I've just posted in the Portal here in the forum, after posting to twitter, Instagram, Discord, and then if its for sale Etsy, it just feels like another place to post without anything else to add... I guess the word might just be transient.
But I am trying to sketch more and finally build those fundamentals I've been ignoring all these years; so hopefully I can get my shit together a bit.
Some digital scribbles.
Not spending a ton of time, because I don't have any time.
I'll sell you some time, if you've got the cash that is :3
This kind of reminds me of those age time lapses where people take a picture of them selves every day for x amount of years. You can literally see your art mature with you. I like it. ๐

almost fourteen years without a low effort image macro meme response in the thread, entropy does what it does I suppose.

That's what personal threads used to be all about, way back. Documenting work, progress etc. Less and less a thing these days unfortunately.
Also I do have a timelapse improvement video, from 2020 of all the images in this thread and my Art Portal gallery, since all the improvement videos tend to be shorter and not show the small incremental nature of improvement and plateauing and improvement, it's easier than navigating all 30 pages here.
Also another digital warmup
