Okay lol don't ask. :P Anyways I've been busy lately. My Mom got her job back (woot woot) and then I went bargain bin shopping for PS2 games and then soon after that I found out my lady friend had a crush on me, so I was like "Woot, girlfriend get!" and I also was making a couple videos with my capture card.

That's about as cut down as I could possibly make this summary of what I've been up to. I'm seriously going to try to get around to reviewing this time, BUT FIRST I gotta keep playing Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2 until I'm finally reunited with my beloved Impreza 22B STI. :D

Dammit, I wanted to take a look at the audio requests yesterday, but then I forgot.
I'll have a look at the requests once I finished this post.

If some requests don't get reviewed, then I suppose it's a bummer but at least we move back to weekly updates...

If there aren't too many requests that don't get reviewed maybe they can be "pulled over" to the next request list under the section "No reviews recieved yet" or something like that.

Or maybe we just have to split up the list between the members, so that everyone only reviews a part of the list. Of course, members who want to review more than their share are free to do so, but we could make sure that every request gets at least one review that way.

Yep, works well.

I'll review the first 11 audio requests in that case. My strength lies in audio reviews so it only makes sense to review a large share of the audio.

Last week wasn't so kind to me for reviewing but I already did a couple of the art and i'll most likely finish doing those sometime this week. I'll have time to do a portion of the audio too so I should have something like 20 reviews at the least.

Hello! Welcome to the new Review Request Club thread. This thread is meant to give the club a fresh start and make it a pleasant place to stay. In order to do this, it goes without saying that you must follow the regular BBS rules and read the C&C Advice Thread before posting if you are new to this forum.

This club aims to increase the exposure of the most under-rated Newgrounds music, art and flash artists. The other major purpose of the club is to offer the Newgrounds artists high quality feedback so they can constantly improve their work.

To the requesters:
Every Newgrounds user is allowed to request a review as soon as he submitted something. To get your work reviewed, don't post here without thinking but follow these few rules:

- Post a direct link to the submission(s) you want reviewed.
- Make no more than 3 Flash and Art requests between two updates (that's one week), and no more than 3 Audio Requests between 5 updates (that's four weeks).
- Please respond to reviews, reviewers like it and some of them are statwho... oh wait, interested in stats.
- Be patient. Due to the points system, you may not see reviews until up to two weeks after you requested, or if you requested more than 1 Audio submission, you may not see reviews on your second submission up until 3 weeks after you requested, and you may not see reviews on your third submission up until 4 weeks after you requested.
- Do NOT request without posting a link, be kind, reviewers are not robots.
- Do NOT simply say "Review everything" or just link to your profile.
- Do NOT request reviews for the same submission more than once.
- Do NOT request reviews for a submission with over 50 reviews.
- Do NOT request reviews for spam. Spam is only there to annoy, not to be critically analyzed.
- Unless you are a club member, only request reviews for YOUR OWN submissions.

To the reviewers:
If you want to join the club and complete requests, simply post in the thread saying you would like to join. Then, regular members will go through your reviews and determine if they are good enough to be part of the club. Your reviews are required to be helpful, developed and well-organised. If you need help with writing good reviews, read Fro's guide to writing helpful reviews.

Once you are accepted, you can start reviewing stuff. If you are a new member of the club, once you understand how the point system works, please post - one or two days before the update - the total points you've earned during the week. This is considered as a sort of application form, and if you fail to do so, you will NOT be added to the club.

Points System:
List updaters will keep track of each member's points in order to build a list. You don't need to post your points before each update but you can keep track of your score on your own so any error can be fixed. This is how points are counted:

5 points for a review on a requested submission (movie, game, art, or audio).
1 point for writing "Review Request Club" at the bottom of a requested review.
3 points for posting at least once throughout the two weeks.
5 points for referring a new member (must mention you in first post).
7 points for reviewing all requests/recommendations between two updates.

Club Updates:
Each Sunday or Monday, a list of all the members is created, counting up their points, featuring various stats and posting a list of requested submissions. Assuming you review the submissions in that list, you will get points for them accordingly in the following members' update, around a week later.

Don't forget the lists are built and updated by humans so it may be possible the update is delayed due to various real life reasons. If it ever occurs, don't get mad; calm down and wait :).

Should we have an FAQ?
I don't know. It kinda seems like overkill.

Why a new thread?
The main idea was to give the club a new and fresh start. Since the old one was flooded by requests and not updated any more, the RRC regulars thought creating a new thread would be best for the club.

Should I link to the club in my forum signature?
There's no obligation to do so, but it's certainly appreciated. Remember that you can put a high number in place of the page number in the URL and if that page doesn't exist yet, Newgrounds will take you to the latest page, whatever it is. For example, "http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/107 2042/999" will take you to the latest page of this club.

RRC Signature?
Yes, at the end of each review, if you want you can write down 'Review Request Club'. There is no obligation to do so, but you'll get +1 point if you put the RRC signature in your review. You can add anything you want to it, E.G.: *Review Request Club*, |Review Request Club|, -Review Request Club-, etc, but as long as 'Review Request Club' is clearly written, you will get the point. You are also allowed to add the sig in any reviews other than requests in this club, as long as you are a club member yourself. It's all the more exposure for the club, and it's very much appreciated.

+1 point if I put the RRC signature in my review... I'm not sure if I get it correctly.
You gain 6 points for a review on a request with "Review Request Club" in the end of it, as opposed to 5 points if you hadn't added the signature at the end. If it's still not clear, read this.

Does the Review Request Club review for non-NG stuff?
No. It must be an NG submission. If you have a non-NG submission which you would like us to review, then use your common sense and upload it to NG. Also, we will only review using the 'Write a Review' method on submissions. We won't send reviews by PM, review in your newspost or review in any particular thread of yours.

Do I have to review all the requests?
No you don't have to, just do your best :). Though completing them all will give you 7 extra points.

Which requests should I review?
If you want to get points for the next member's update, look for the latest requests list in the club thread and review the requests from that list. If you review any requests from various posts in the thread which would have been posted after the latest requests list, you will be getting points for the member's update after the next one.

I took a while, but here's the update, finally. Sorry for the delay of a day, and for taking so long to do it even though I said I had started it hours ago. I felt like doing a review at the last minute, and I had to go eat. And stuff. So yeah, sorry for taking a while...

Still, I have good news. I've upgraded the spreadsheets even more, despite me saying a few months ago that I upgraded them to the point that they can't be upgraded anymore. It should save a few minutes of messing around with formulae and copy/pasting. The only downside of the spreadsheets now is that you have to calculate the total requests and total reviews all time statistics mentally, by manually adding them to the week's requests/reviews made (I'm still looking for a way to fix this).

Not only that, but we've also managed to review every request (thanks to Haggard for reviewing the ones I didn't have time to review).

Haggard and Coop are also reaching for the 1000 reviews made milestone, with Haggard at 996 and Coop at 984 :D.

Finally, of course, we have a new member (or rather an old member rejoining), Soapbubble.

Now for the bad news... Nobody reviewed all of the requests, and obviously, the requests list this time is massive. The only way to review all of the requests in a week is, as Haggard said, to split the reviews to certain members, so that at least 5 members can do 11 reviews each. I'll be doing the first 11 audio requests. The last bad news is that we lost a member, MonoFlauta.

By the way, on an unrelated note, this is the update before the last which I'll do until Animith takes over when I'm abroad for a month. Next update is the 18th, maybe the 19th if I have to delay for some reason, but definitely not the 20th, since I'll be leaving on the 20th.

GUIDELINES/THREAD INFO

Wow, all stats have gone down except for Reviews per Request. That's sad.

Anyway, I was GOING TO review a lot of audio yesterday, but then the devil arrived in the shape of a hot woman, and I got distracted. Same thing happened today, except it wasn't the devil nor a woman, it was just some friends.

I'll get all flash and all art done, and then I'll try to get some audio done as well. I don't really have a hard time reviewing audio, but I always feel like I have to write so much more when it comes to audio reviews. I don't know why, it's just... I know music better than I know flash and drawings/other art. I can't wait till the literature portal comes around. That's something I really know.

At least I got more than 50%.

No problem. Was about time I did some audio reviews again. I even lost 2 reviews on the top 100 audio reviewers list (which you all should check out by the way, RRC members have a good chance on appearing on that list ;) ).

I'll get some reviews done now. Not tired at all. Starting with art reviews, they're the easiest to do, methinks. Usually.

All right, done all of the art and half the flash (seven first on the list). Now, I need some sleep. I'll finish the flash tomorrow, I think. Then I'll get started on the audio reviews, but I'm not sure I'll finish those by the end of the week.

Thanks for the update, Mono. I'm still progressing along with this and I'll just have to have a go at seeing if I can make a lot of reviews this week.

I'd like to get over 50% for the week, but it depends on time constraints. I hate being so nice that I do so much for everyone >:(

I guess I dug the hole, so I've got to dig myself out :P

I've finished one audio review and halfway through another; I plan on doing at least 4 audio reviews before making some music (which is really hard to do since the music software I'm using is being glitchy and lagging like hell...).

Yeah, sometimes when I do the list I neglect to see how many reviews a submission has and still add it to the list, my bad xD

In cases like these, ignore the rule and review it to avoid any confusion, which you already did anyway ^^.

I've went through some of your reviews, and I don't think they're good enough for the club. They're too short/vague. For example, this review:

"Personally didn't like it."

Submission: TShirt Stand

People who like "Simulation" games will like this, Even if I personally didn't.

You told the author that you personally didn't like it and gave him a 6/10, without mentioning what he can do to make it better. If you personally don't like something, then don't review it to avoid bias. A lot of your reviews are simply stating a few defects in the flash, but not mentioning any way to make it better.

There are other reviews where you give a score lower than 10 without mentioning why. I personally don't like these types of reviews, since everyone wants 10/10 reviews, but if they get less, they want to know why so they can improve. Your latest review on 'Fireworks Fantasy' is an example of this. If you give a score a lower than 10, then you should say why you did so in my opinion.

I think you should improve your reviews a little more before entering the club. Here are some examples of good reviews, and Fro also made two guides on how to write good and helpful reviews.

Anyway, hope to see you in the club, but first you need to make better reviews :).
