Yeah don't know if this is a first for the Review Request Club. But could you guys take a look at my interviews from The Interviewer
and tell me how I'm doing on them.

I know this is mainly for flash, audio, and art... just wondering.

Woo, ban over :D.

Just have to say thanks for sitting through that 4-5 hour explanation about the spreadsheets and getting it right so quickly. Yeah I know I've already said this about 50 times, but there's always room for a 51st :D.

Haha it feels great quoting the update like I used to do before Sonofkirk went.

1 ) 6301 | 984 / 1169 | 84.17% || 159 | 26 / 55 | 47.27% | Haggard
2 ) 6235 | 974 / 1168 | 83.39% || 165 | 27 / 55 | 49.09% | Coop83
3 ) 3387 | 523 / 1141 | 45.84% || 048 | 08 / 55 | 14.55% | Fro
4 ) 2576 | 401 / 1049 | 38.23% || 171 | 28 / 55 | 50.91% | Supersteph54

Quite a big gap between Fro and I and a much bigger gap to get too Coop and Haggard, but that won't make me give up. Sorry for not reviewing everything though; even in summer I'm packed with stuff to do, although I reviewed all I could and almost managed to finish all the audio, in addition to almost all the art and some of the flash.

Statistics:
Average Per Member: 10.21
Average Per Request: 2.60

As usual we have a huge Average Per Member compared to the Average Per Request.

Sigs Forgotten: 3

Heh, I can name the three members who forgot the sig but I'll leave them anonymous :3.

New to the List: Spysociety and domo48

Nice reviews, I'm sure you'll both make a great addition to the club.

All requests completed: None. :(

Oh well, at least we gave every request a review.

GUIDELINES/THREAD INFO

I'm going to have to start posting these at the beginning of every page.

At 7/4/10 05:19 PM, Animith wrote: Request List

And thanks for this too. Quite a big requests list like last time, must've taken a long time :(.

This update would have been 50 requests long. That is a huge list, much like the ones we've had recently which have started to strain the reviewing resources of the RRC. So here's an idea we're testing this week: Splitting that mammoth 50-request list in half. It's not reducing the requests we're doing, it's simply putting it into more manageable chunks, to see whether that has any effect.

In theory it should, unless we get loads of requests this week.

The first half (25) will be posted now, the second half (25) will be posted in a week. And yes, that means we are trying to revert back to WEEKLY UPDATES.

It's not going to be easy. Some requesters complain that we're stuck with the biweekly update because they request too much and we take a long time, and then they still keep on requesting making it very hard to move back to the Weekly update :(.

Requests Total: 25

25 isn't that bad for one week, don't you think?

Audio Requests-15

I'll be working on these ASAP.

In a Teardrop by Raven-Guard

Just a quick reminder, Raven-Guard is an alt shared between Darklight17 and I.

Flash Requests-7

A decent number, even if it's not even half of the audio requests.

Art Requests-3

As usual, very little art requests, but better than nothing I suppose.

TO ANY REQUESTERS! We are asking anyone requesting things to, if at all possible, TAKE IT EASY on requests this week. We're splitting the list to try and relieve some of the pressure off the club, so having 30 new requests this week pop up will not help that. xD
So again, if at all possible, take it easy on the requests this week. Thank you.

Just emphasizing: TAKE IT EASY. Just for one week, try not to request too much, we're doing this to increase our rate of reviewing, so if you calm down on requesting for this one week, then it'll be much better for you in the future.

At 7/4/10 06:21 PM, sixflab wrote: Wow, epic fail on my part. I didn't realize that you were doing the update today. I reviewed all of the flash an hour after the list was put up.

Ah, too bad... Actually while doing the update I reviewed one extra flash request since I saw that it had no RRC reviews, without knowing that you'd finish them soon after... Oh well :(.

At 7/4/10 10:08 PM, The-Great-One wrote: Yeah don't know if this is a first for the Review Request Club. But could you guys take a look at my interviews from The Interviewer

Well, I had a look through them, there isn't really much to say. They're extremely well organised, and you've interviewed quite a few people.

I especially like the second interview you did with Tom, at least it's nice to know that they are working hard on the Audio Portal and have some great ideas for it, and that the Writing Portal will be out soon :D.

The only mistake I can find is a full-stop instead of a question mark in the second question of Oney's interview :3.

So overall nothing really wrong with the interviews, they're all really informative :D.

At 7/2/10 10:25 PM, RogerBK wrote: Also, sorry for the double-post, but I wanna say "welcome" to everyone who entered the club in those days I were out: "Welcome to the club, guys, I'm pretty sure you'll be very helpful to the club and the authors... Hmmm, as I saw before, you guys aren't taking the "We're not going to review Spam" rule, huh?? But, anyway, we gotta help those authors...

Other Also: YEAHHH!! 3000th post, congrats RRC!!! WUT!

Don't lie to us, you only did that post to be the one to submit the 3000th RRC post xD.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT, CUZ I'M ANNOYING LIKE THAT

Just finished updating the Club Info with some stuff like specifying that the updates are back to weekly updates, adding the rule of 3 Audio Requests per 4 weeks, adding another frequently asked question to the FAQ, adding a link to Fro's guide to good reviews, adding a note at the top encouraging users to read the updated info, doing some other random stuff and of course, fixing the grammatical mistakes.

Instead of making a new thread, Coop suggested that we post it at the beginning of every new page so no matter which page the requesters go to, they'll see the rules right in front of their face, and it avoids having to make a whole new thread. Remember that each page would be a multiple of 30, so for example the next page is due to be the 3030th post.

Here's the club info. I'd greatly appreciate people downloading it helping me out by posting the Club Info at the beginning of every page of the thread when I'm not around to do it myself, since I might not be online sometimes (like when I'm abroad). All of the HTML tags and stuff are there in the .txt file, all you need to do is copy all its contents and paste it in a new post. Thanks!

Awesome. I tried to review all the flash requests, but I couldn't motivate myself to do the last three yesterday (I already had reviewed 7 submissions that day).

I don't really get how this should work out, but let's have a try anyway. ^^

Audio Requests-15
Flash Requests-7
Art Requests-3

Let's see how many of those requests I can get done. Hopefully I can review some audio as well as I haven't done so in quite some time now.

Pretty simple actually. Throughout the last 2 weeks we had 50 requests, but we're trying to move back to the weekly update, so we split the 50 requests in two, 25 and 25, and review the first 25 this week and the second 25 (along with the requests we get this week) next week.

It's probably the only way to move back to weekly updates without having to do 50 requests in one week, now all we need to do is hope we don't get many requests this week so that next week not so many will be added to the 25 requests.

It's a rule but it depends on which submissions we see as spam and which we don't see as spam. Usually when someone requests a submission which looks/sounds like spam, we decide whether to review it or not beforehand. Take it as a general rule that if a submission is in a requests list, then it will count as a request and it will give you points if you review it.

Also, to Roger, we're not helping the authors who requested their spam submissions by reviewing them. Spam is there to annoy people, so they didn't put much effort in it and already know that it sucks :P.

I seriously need to stop making such long posts. And long newsposts, and long author's comments, and long... reviews. D:

To be honest, you guys should limit requests to 1-per-person when it gets hectic like this. It's a decent measure to prevent the requests lists from getting super long.

I care about quality more than quantity, but at the same time, the more opinions I get from people, the better because you have more input to look into and more people pointing out the areas that need improvement in your work.

When there's so many submissions requiring reviews, I imagine reviewers get frustrated and the quality and quantity of reviews going down. It stops being fun and it becomes a chore instead.

Find a way to limit them, it'll help you guys tremendously.

NOTE - READ THESE RULES, EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY READ THE RULES IN THE FIRST POST. THEY ARE AN UPDATED VERSION OF THE RULES IN THE FIRST POST AND THEY HAVE NEW IMPORTANT RULES!

Hello! Welcome to the new Review Request Club thread. This thread is meant to give the club a fresh start and make it a pleasant place to stay. In order to do this, it goes without saying that you must follow the regular BBS rules and read the C&C Advice Thread before posting if you are new to this forum.

This club aims to increase the exposure of the most under-rated Newgrounds music, art and flash artists. The other major purpose of the club is to offer the Newgrounds artists high quality feedback so they can constantly improve their work.

To the requesters:
Every Newgrounds user is allowed to request a review as soon as he submitted something. To get your work reviewed, don't post here without thinking but follow these few rules:

- Post a direct link to the submission(s) you want reviewed.
- Make no more than 3 Flash and Art requests between two updates (that's one week), and no more than 3 Audio Requests between 5 updates (that's four weeks).
- Please respond to reviews, reviewers like it and some of them are statwho... oh wait, interested in stats.
- Be patient. Due to the points system, you may not see reviews until up to two weeks after you requested, or if you requested more than 1 Audio submission, you may not see reviews on your second submission up until 3 weeks after you requested, and you may not see reviews on your third submission up until 4 weeks after you requested.
- Do NOT request without posting a link, be kind, reviewers are not robots.
- Do NOT simply say "Review everything" or just link to your profile.
- Do NOT request reviews for the same submission more than once.
- Do NOT request reviews for a submission with over 50 reviews.
- Do NOT request reviews for spam. Spam is only there to annoy, not to be critically analyzed.
- Unless you are a club member, only request reviews for YOUR OWN submissions.

To the reviewers:
If you want to join the club and complete requests, simply post in the thread saying you would like to join. Then, regular members will go through your reviews and determine if they are good enough to be part of the club. Your reviews are required to be helpful, developed and well-organised. If you need help with writing good reviews, read Fro's guide to writing helpful reviews.

Once you are accepted, you can start reviewing stuff. If you are a new member of the club, once you understand how the point system works, please post - one or two days before the update - the total points you've earned during the week. This is considered as a sort of application form, and if you fail to do so, you will NOT be added to the club.

Points System:
List updaters will keep track of each member's points in order to build a list. You don't need to post your points before each update but you can keep track of your score on your own so any error can be fixed. This is how points are counted:

5 points for a review on a requested submission (movie, game, art, or audio).
1 point for writing "Review Request Club" at the bottom of a requested review.
3 points for posting at least once throughout the two weeks.
5 points for referring a new member (must mention you in first post).
7 points for reviewing all requests/recommendations between two updates.

Club Updates:
Each Sunday or Monday, a list of all the members is created, counting up their points, featuring various stats and posting a list of requested submissions. Assuming you review the submissions in that list, you will get points for them accordingly in the following members' update, around a week later.

Don't forget the lists are built and updated by humans so it may be possible the update is delayed due to various real life reasons. If it ever occurs, don't get mad; calm down and wait :).

Frequently Asked Questions:

Should we have an FAQ?
I don't know. It kinda seems like overkill.

Why a new thread?
The main idea was to give the club a new and fresh start. Since the old one was flooded by requests and not updated any more, the RRC regulars thought creating a new thread would be best for the club.

Should I link to the club in my forum signature?
There's no obligation to do so, but it's certainly appreciated. Remember that you can put a high number in place of the page number in the URL and if that page doesn't exist yet, Newgrounds will take you to the latest page, whatever it is. For example, "http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/107 2042/999" will take you to the latest page of this club.

RRC Signature?
Yes, at the end of each review, if you want you can write down 'Review Request Club'. There is no obligation to do so, but you'll get +1 point if you put the RRC signature in your review. You can add anything you want to it, E.G.: *Review Request Club*, |Review Request Club|, -Review Request Club-, etc, but as long as 'Review Request Club' is clearly written, you will get the point. You are also allowed to add the sig in any reviews other than requests in this club, as long as you are a club member yourself. It's all the more exposure for the club, and it's very much appreciated.

+1 point if I put the RRC signature in my review... I'm not sure if I get it correctly.
You gain 6 points for a review on a request with "Review Request Club" in the end of it, as opposed to 5 points if you hadn't added the signature at the end. If it's still not clear, read this.

Does the Review Request Club review for non-NG stuff?
No. It must be an NG submission. If you have a non-NG submission which you would like us to review, then use your common sense and upload it to NG. Also, we will only review using the 'Write a Review' method on submissions. We won't send reviews by PM, review in your newspost or review in any particular thread of yours.

Do I have to review all the requests?
No you don't have to, just do your best :). Though completing them all will give you 7 extra points.

Which requests should I review?
If you want to get points for the next member's update, look for the latest requests list in the club thread and review the requests from that list. If you review any requests from various posts in the thread which would have been posted after the latest requests list, you will be getting points for the member's update after the next one.

can u review allz mah flashz guise? kthxbai.
No.

If you have more questions, feel free to post about it in the thread or PM a member and if your question is frequently asked, it'll be added to the FAQ.

---

That's all about the club, though this new version of the club couldn't be opened without mentioning the old thread regulars who have made it a great place to spend time. Kudos to Freelance-Magician for creating the original club and to milinko959 for maintaining it for so long. Thanks also to Sonofkirk for starting this new thread and doing many updates.

Have fun!

Can I still use the review request club sig?

I think so. I used to do it on behalf of the club when I left. It's there to let people know where the reviewer's coming from, even if he's not part of the club.

At least that's the way I see it. Maybe an actual member can give a different opinion.

Well... we do have this 1 per person rule. It's been in effect for awhile now. That's why you don't see any more than 1 request of audio per person on our list. Those are all songs from different people and that's why our lists get so large. It's not that one person requests more than one song, but instead several people request songs. The only way to limit our totals to manageable amounts would be to make it so one person could only request 1 song a month. We'd still get 10+.

At 7/5/10 08:36 PM, Stargenx wrote: Uh, I'm just reviewing everything as it comes along. Could I be exempt from posting points? I do this for fun not for points.

Even though the points add more fun when you have the ability to pass someone up and it helps give more motivation when someone is about to pass you up. Therefor helping the people requesting reviews even more. :)

I don't know if anyone here remembers me, but I used to be in the RRC back in... I think it was fall 2009. Then I went incative as I left NG completely for a couple of months. Now I'm sort of back, and I'd like to get back in on this. I need something to keep me reviewing. I want to review, but I just can't ever get around to doing it, unless I've got something that keeps me going.

So, if it's not too much of a problem, can I get back on the list?

Haha, yes, I remember you. I don't know if you remember me though, I'm the guy who joined around the same time as you did and beat you in the list because you had started school before me and had less time to review xD.

Anyway, you already know how things work around here, so you won't need to post your points. Here's the latest member's update and here's the latest Requests List. Animith posted them since she'll be taking over while I'm abroad and is learning how to use the spreadsheets, but I'm usually the one who updates instead of Sonofkirk :3.

A few things have changed since you've gone though, particularly the fact that we've added an Extra Audio Requests section since we were having too many Audio Requests, and this is explained over here.

Anyway, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask in the thread, and welcome back :D.

Please refrain from reposting your submissions. Especially when they actually are on the list. Check page 101 and it's under Extra Art Requests. It doesn't mean that it's bad, it's just that we are converting over to a weekly list again and yours ended up on the second half.
