I'm not too far into the game, but so far upgrading the cake meter has served me fine. I'll take EdyKel's word for it though because without either option you won't get the maximum skill points possible after the first two or three levels.
For what they do, it's a small cost. I figure they generate cakes at twice the speed of the cake meter - depending on position and tower level. You only need one, and on a tower that is a few towers down, to finish off the enemy, and increase your chance at getting a cake, having it fully upgraded is a bonus. I usually end up with 50 cakes by the end of the level, even if a few enemies slip by. I also prefer using the mix tower, as they are the most versatile, and cheapest aside from the ground one.

So after checking through I bit of the thread after this game was released I couldn't find anything about it, so if you didn't know it seems the Barker's Pride medal in Plinko is BROKEN.......After trying for a while I actually got it and I got a big fat nothing for it. It is quite fitting for the ass that gave us Drop the Bomb. Pic included for the heart breaking proof. Also note the ironic Price is Right ad in the background.

That's just horrible. How long did it take you? I figured you have to try it at least a few hundred times unless you get REALLY lucky early on. I always had a hunch the medal was broken, as I haven't seen anyone with that medal, even the guys who have lots of other impossible medals. Tough luck there, but thanks for confirming my hunch. =/
I am just about done with that toys vs. nightmares game. I need two more secret achievements. By the way, this was my set-up for the last nightmare level.
Made awesome use of those exploding bears. I didn't even lose a life. This level took less tries than NM11, they random system was super nice to me.

It is actually quite easy. Just point with the lance way over the head and then either at the body or the head, since the opponent will then not be fast enough to bring his shield back in position. You should also aim for the lowest part of the body, since the opponent almost never reaches there with his shield. But I agree that the medal points are too low. I had to play for a while to earn enough money for the most expensive horse.

The lowest part of the body? As in the horse or his chest? So far the game seems like you have to grind quite a bit. I'm averaging 8 rounds on each person.

Well, yes, I ended up grinding too. I actually saved up for the best armor/weapon/helm and bought this one then. And you have to go for the chest , all the red parts are not allowed to hit and will bring nothing. I will show you, where to aim with a simple screenshot:

Not a bad game, but that medal for buying the most expensive horse should've been at least worth 50 points as it's a total grind to get, seeing how you at most get only $100 per round.

And it turns out that one of those medals involves the Doom in a Box. And also Bogeymen. Still working the last one. I still think it might have something to do with the race car or the pirate ship.
While playing The Lance! I had the game's shop lock up on me and everything was listed as sold out after I accidentally yielded in the middle of the battle. I was almost level 11 at the time. Has this happened to anyone else?
