Just as the authors intended, you were fooled. That save point is fake. If you look closely you'll find that the word "save" is written backwards.

Also, how close are we to finishing the game?I'm getting pretty bored here.

Ah. The wall spike "triggers" are on ground on both sides of the fake save button, not the button itself. So after avoiding the falling thing, go up somewhere close-ish to the fake button, double jump over it and you should land close to the wall spikes. From there on you're very close to the final boss.

I'm at the room where I grab the gun, which I assume is the boss. So I have two questions before I grab the gun:

1) How do I shoot?
2) If I die here, do I restart here, or do I have to go through the previous few rooms with the disappearing platforms again?

Use "e" to shoot. If you die, you start back at the beginning of the battle on this screen.
The battle is pretty easy. I have already outlined how to beat him in a previous post.

Also, for the "skip some rooms" trick, two screens after the pac man screen, there will be a room with many squares and some spikes. If you jump up to the top row of squares, and then double jump off the screen and to the right, you will end up in "null space" on the next map. Simply hold the right arrow and do some jumping and you'll end up on the next screen. continue until you get past Donkey Kong. It's a shame it doesn't work up through the end boss.

I hope that helps everyone. I've got all the medals to this forsaken game. I PM'ed the author informing him I got his Zero Hero medal, but still no response. I'm left underwhelmed.

E shoots, it will tell you this.

You respawn in that room. Read my earlier post (previous page) if you want a tip for beating his second form.

I can confirm that this makes the boss fight ridiculously easy...also, to beat his first form, just go to the aforementioned top left spot, spam e, then jump over him, land close to him and finish him before he can charge at you.

Phew, okay, I'm finally done, got every medal except the "dynamic duo"...it's a shame that I don't want to play this game anymore, because now I know every secret, so I could easily get one of the two.

Alright, I've figured out a very reliable way to defeat the final boss in I Wanna Be etc. There are two safe spots from the spikes. For the first, third, and fifth volleys, stand in the red circle below when the spikes come. For the second and fourth, stand in the blue. Assuming you can press E quickly, you won't need any more, though when I watched for the pattern after dying he seemed to just stick to the first one over and over at that point. I wouldn't take that as truth though, since it may be different because I was dead. And remember that he sometimes reaches and swings farther than you expect, so don't be afraid to back up on the top left platform.

Also, if you fail too many times you may experience a memory leak and subsequent lag. At least, I did.

Now, can someone tell me if the inverted volcano is actually random, or is there a pattern? I died so many times on that level, though it seemed like I could pass safely after it spewed toward the left corner 3 times in a row? Is that just a weird coincidence?

@chris-marks, as far as I can tell, the inverted volcano is random, which is truly annoying. I took forever to get past it on my first run, yet when I did my zero-death run I got past it on my first try. I'd be interested to know if anyone could find a pattern.

I hated that volcano almost as much as the spike and platform room. I agree that it is completely random. Sometimes it's very simple and other times a complete pain.

i plan on conquering that game tonight, and i'll be capturing my gameplay.

I do have one very important tip for you guys going for the zero deaths medal, in levels where you respawn in that level without a save point (e.g. the final boss), if you die DO NOT PRESS R! Instead close the game and reload it, and you'll still be without deaths and at the same time. If you instead press R the game will resave itself and you'll be stuck with a death and the additional time you spent.

Done and done. And 10 points shy of 38000 medal points. I mean, really? 10 points? You're going to do that to me?

Sidenote: this game has 505 medal points. And the spikes and platforms level is THE HARDEST in my opinion.

Other sidenote: I beat the final boss before he finished dropping the spikes for the third time. I must have been clicking E really quickly this time around.

Other other sidenote: I sent a message to the game's programmer asking what my prize is.

My experience differs from yours. I was on the boss screen going for the 1000 deaths and time spent medals, and I decided to back up my game before collecting death number 1000 (suicide number 708). I copied the savegame directory and refreshed the page to refresh the session, as I always do, and when I resumed playing the game I was back at 308 deaths and just over 1:40:00 playtime, as I was the first time I entered the room.

Though really, why you'd press R in the first place when you die if you're going for Zero Hero is beyond me, so the whole discussion should ideally been moot. I did use R a whole lot on the spikes and platforms room though... I must have restarted that room 100 times in my Zero Hero quest.

The only known legit method is to open the game simultaneously in two windows (without having gotten either medal), and achieve the medals separately in each. If you already have one of them there is no known legit method to get the other.

Those guys with both medals either used this method, or they hacked.

I have the similar superhuman ability to never be able to collect the Shift4 medals.

Nah. I heard some people easily were able to get them by deleting their game save file for it. I've tried it, only because I never got either of the medals, but I still don't have either of them. Those medals are probably glitched now, anyways.:/

@Edykel, deleting save files is known not to work. Supposedly the game checks the medal database when it loads, so you can't fool it.

Well, that game sucks ass. Mainly because of one fucking part where you have to rely on platforms that slide out from under you and you can also fall straight through them. I love the authors excuse for not wanting to fix his bugs.

It looks like I have obtained all the medals I am going to get from it.

The time medals are actually 2 hours and 3 hours. Yay poor coding.

As far as that level is concerned, see those holes in the floor? You have to walk into them, then as you fall press W to mid-air jump back up to the next platform. And you're also rather near the end of the game, so keep the faith!

Yeah, that game's had medals for about a week now I guess, but they don't unlock on the game page, only on your profile. Weird stuff. The points still count though, so that's good. Someone's already claimed guide-writing rights a couple pages ago too.
