It's pretty obvious, but yeah I missed it too. lol

That's what I thought. But since I tried it so many times before and failed I thought there was another way.

That's what I figured. It progressively gets more and more difficult as the days go by, so upgrading the quality of ale/weapon order really matters. By day 28 and on I believe it is impossible, but I may be wrong. You definitely have to achieve it early though.

I answered this somewhere in the middle of that last page for the first person who asked. Can't believe there for 3/4 people that couldn't figure that out..

You didn't explain it very thoroughly.

I've sent a message to JAZZA about how the Doug minigame is impossible after about level 10, so hopefully he'll do something to make it more fair (slow down Doug, fewer hits, speed up McSweeney, etc). Given how impossible the whack-a-Doug is, I'd be surprised if the $2000 in a day medal is even possible.

I just got it on level 23. I had my weapon upgraded to the small hammer very early, but as soon as I did that the number of hits to get rid of Doug lurched up by almost 200% so I stopped that and started working on my ale quality. The large money for underfilling glitch kicks in on level 22, so after figuring that out I filled my front barrel and 2 in the back. I filled 3 orders and then went to the back to refill the keg in the front, and then I waited for Doug and went back to beat him up. Came back to the front and served until enough was gone to make the remainder of my keg-in-the-back worth adding, then added it and went until I ran out. And every single order I filled was filled at the bottom of the slider. I ended up with almost $5,000 that day. Then the next day Doug got the better of me and I only made $2500.

I believe after level 20 you just underfill beers to get ridiculous money. I find refilling when the keg is 25% full a good way to get the most beer done before the drunk shows up. Combining this with the underfilling technique after level 20 and you can easily get 2000, especially if you get a lot of customers with buckets.
I got over 5 million points and no medal. I also believe I got over 5000 dollars in a day with no medal. I don't think there are any other medals to be had.

Medals now show up on

and there's another medal for beating a level past level 5 without losing any ale from Doug.

That one may be broken; I just did day 31 (continuing my game from last night) without losing any ale to Doug and got no medal. I'll start a new game later today to test it.

Yep, it's broken. I just in a new game beat level 7 without losing any to him by not having any kegs back there by the time he was supposed to show up, and then I beat level 8 by beating him senseless in a single keg before he drank any, and no medal. I've contacted JAZZA about it.

Speaking of which, he agrees that it shouldn't be literally impossible to defeat Doug, and he's looking into making that more fair.

All of the medals work, in case anyone was waiting to play it until that was confirmed.

It is kind of like Pilgrimage as you get further into it. I was able to get all the gems and complete the map, but I only found one secret area. I'll go hunting deeper another time.

Response to Newgrounds Medals - Games and Tips 2010-03-10 14:29:29

Found all three secret areas. I think it's much easier to find them when either you have no gems or you have them all. When you have a lot of gems and the "noise factor" is occurring, finding these secrets are nearly impossible.

Response to Newgrounds Medals - Games and Tips 2010-03-10 14:39:46

pictures? I've been playing the game muted with music on... I didn't realize the sound was important.

Where are they? They're not secret medals, so it should be okay to share their locations.

The rest of the game is really fun, I like it.

There is one along each edge, excluding the top edge. I can't remember exactly where, but that should really help narrow your search down.

To clarify what I've said before:
The secret rooms are in space outside of the map. One on the left side, one on the right side, one on the bottom.
The "Noise Factor" is not sound, but the fact that the game's graphics degrade as you get more gems. It degrades similar to the "Pilgrimage" game hosted on Newgrounds. For a while it feels like you didn't blow on the Nintendo cartridge enough before you popped it into the system, so some of the graphics are messed up (Those were the days).
Finally, when you get the last gem, you cannot just warp back to the ship. As such, you should leave a gem near the ship alone and have it be the last one you get. Navigating all the way back to the ship is a pain when you have all the gems.

You lose that ability as soon as you get 24 of them, so if you're going after all 27 gems this advice doesn't actually help.

Also, screenshots of where the secret areas are? It's not like you can navigate in a straight line along the sides or bottom, so knowing exactly where to go will make it a whole lot faster.

That robot game no death medal is too hard. It's so easy to mess up once. And there are so many things you have to time perfectly.

I've found a spot in the top left room which I can't get to because I cant jump high enough, and I've found a spot in the bottom centre room which I can't get to because there's no access to it. I haven't found anything at all along the right. I may have to wait for the walkthrough to get the hidden areas with this one.

I think they should remain secret, but here's a pro tip: They all involve fake walls, so just hug all the walls and you'll find them!

The Doug game totally sucks. In my opinion, it's one of the worst medal games to come out in a long time. Not because the game sucks, but because the medals do.

I hate having to play tedious meal serving games. And on one where you're forced to play for an hour if you want all the medals. And only if you're lucky? No thanks. It's just the same thing over and over. The same level just faster. It's extremely boring.

Not to mention you can't hit Doug before he drinks on the later levels, because he starts drinking while you're filling.
