Highschool punks

Today was a prime example of why I think most of people on this planet are fucking morons and are brining up thier kids to be just as lacking in human kindness and common sense.
I was walking to the mall on my way to pick up a few things. Well on my way I pass a smoke shop and drop in to get some cigs. Once I come out across the street I can see two rather large highschool senior aged guys pushing around what appears to be a 9th maybe 10th grade level kid that is a good bit smaller than them. There are pople walking right by and doing nothing. They act as if they dont see it and keep going. Well I light my cig walk over and yell at the two kids . They try to get a little cocky and walk towards me but I fliped out my militery ID and ask them if they really want to go that road. In the face of some one standing up to them they sulk off and I send the other kid on his way. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE THAT THEY WOULD DO THAT OR LET THAT GO ON?!

Not all of us are in the military ya know. We're not all strong and powerful like you. Some people may not have the physical strength and power to take two guys on. And even if they did, theres a lot more implications.

What happens if they did decide to fight with you? It'd escalate the situation from a simple case of pushing and shoving to full fledged punching and fighting. You'd end up looking like the bad guy picking on a couple teenagers.

And then what if they pulled a knife or gun on you. A simple case of pushing and shoving to something a lot worse. Either you get stabbed. Or they do. Which ones worse for you in that situation, who knows?

Its not all about EVERYONE BEING COMPLETE ASSHOLES WITH NO SOUL. Its not that black and white.

Most people these days like to stay in there own group of friends and shun out everyone else and try to act like there better. People wont stop because we dont want to get involvrd or the excuse people use, I'm just busy. They really dont care and would almost want to watch and thats because our society is falling apart.

So, your solution is to do nothing? I admit that becoming involved might not have been the best thing to do, but we weren't there and so cannot really comment. We also don't know what would have happened had he not intervened. Perhaps it might have just ended with pushing and shoving, but perhaps not. What if someone who was not as impressive as him had intervened? They might have been stabbed or worse. Perhaps it was not Physical size, but the producing of a Military ID that caused them to stop. The show of authority often has a profound effect on troublemakers. If they think that they can get away with something, then they'll do their damndest to do so. As soon as an authority figure becomes involved there is a risk of consequences and so misbehaving becomes much less attractive an option. IMO upbringing may have had something to do with their behaviour - if there was a lack of discipline in the home then they would likely have less respect for others. But as I have said, I was not there to see the incident, nor do I know the particulars of their upbringing or life-experiences, so I cannot and therefore will not pass judgement on the actions of all involved. But I for one applaud the positive action taken. If more of us did that then there would likely be a lot less anti-social behaviour in the world.

I myself dont know how I would have reacted. Most likely I would have sat there and watched until there was more than pushing and shoving and only then intervened. Becuase I mean a simple pushing and shoving aint overly bad. In fact it could make the kid stronger. Some of the strongest minded people I have met have been the ones who were bullied.

But then again if hes bullied too much he could turn into a gun totering murderer hell bent on shooting up his school. Then its game over. He might even beat the boss on level 32.

I see it happen a lot, and I will occasionally stick up for the little guy that's being bothered. Why? Because those people who pick on those weaker than themselves are usually cowardly or insecure. So fuck their opinion of me.

Dude I am all of 5'2" and only 150 lbs. I am not by any means powerfull other than the fact that I have militery training and martial arts training. However just because not every one has these things does not mean one of the several 6'3' 250 pound guys that walked past could not have said anything. I mean what is more likly to scare some fairly big highschool seniors my little ass or a huge guy? If they had tried to punch me I would have defended myself as best I can. If they pulled a knife I would have ran my ass off if I could and if not I would hold my ground and fight as well as I could. Just because there is risk involved does not make it right to walk on all it means is that those that walk by are cowards.

I agree totally. Though they must have felt like ass because I am shorter than the kid they were messing with. (I am 5'2") I just hate seeing people picked on for being small because it happened to me all the time till I hit highschool and started to fight back. Then I never took shit from any one but it still irks me to see it.

ya its funny because last year I was small (4'11ish) and some kids would fuck with me because they knew I would just have to sit there and take it and now ive gotten taller and I decided I wasnt gonna take shit anymore, theres a point like that for all short people I think.

Hey there are times to be the hero and times to save your ass. If that kid didnt take off the second the knife came out and thier attention was on me then he is a dumb ass. However I would most probably have grabed the kid and draged him after me as I ran. (or at least tried to)
