The Flash Feedback Thread 2007-02-15 16:27:10

I've seen a lot of threads created on here asking people to feedback on small clips of movies or demos of games. While it is great that people want feedback to improve and lots of people like to give feedback, these threads are kind of flooding this forum and drowning people who actually need help. So I thought, why not create a thread where people can show their demos and ask for feedback, where there will be lots of people who come here specifically to see the latest previews? Well, that's the gist of it :)
Anything you want beta-tested, or that you want feedback on, post a link to it here. Remember to regularly comment on other's previews too; otherwise this may become full of links with no real result.

This probably needs a few ground rules too:

- DO post constructive criticism. Be helpful and specific. Remember, whoever is posting wants to improve their work, they don't want to know that you think it's crap unless you're helping them to improve it.
- DO NOT ask for help relating to Actionscript or animation techniques here. This thread is for feedback on product only.
- DO NOT post little snippets of code you have written, or every little movie clip you have excreted. Only ask for feedback if it's a proper project that you intend to see through to the end and submit to Newgrounds.
- DO NOT be afraid to ask for feedback on specific parts of your Flash, i.e., the design of the character or the suitability of the music.
- DO NOT ask for others to collaborate with you here. If someone can see you might need help, they can PM you.

Well, that's about it, I think.

A few useful links:
Royalty free music for any and all purposes
ActionScript: Main
Quick, free, and easy storage for your Flash.

This isn't in 'Clubs and Crews' because it relates specifically to Flash

Generally, people would just start a new thread for feedback on their works; why is this needed?

Nontheless, here is my Ascii (and keycode) convertor, made ENTIRELY with API. Not a single drawing or text box was used outside the Actions panel (including gradient background).

Part One: Please tell me some of the unregistered keys, and their corresponding codes.

Part Two: It only works one way, I'm afraid. No converting back.

I don't know any of the codes or anything but that's really nice, I might bookmark it, I use an old one but this one is cooler.

This thread is unnecessary... One of the reasons of the forum is that so you can get personalized attention to your flash dilemma and helping you improve your movies before submitting it... making a thread that is a catch all sort of creates an extra box inside the box and is unnecessary. If theres alot of threads on the forum its because everyone needs help. And thread titles (in theory) should tip people off who read the forum as to where they are able to help.

Condensing it all into a single thread will make a mess similar to how the flash reg lounge is... where everyone is raising their hand at the same time type of thing.

From my random bashing of the keyboard, I couldn.'t find anything that didnt work apart from the F1-12 keys... but i'm not even sure they have key codes.

It would be a nice feature to add if you could :) That way I'll be able to decipher the little code of yours...

It looks quite nice, impressive for API only.

I dont see what's wrong with that... and you didn't lock the thread, so clearly you must be able to see some usefulness in it :)

you're blatently going to lock it now though... :(

Anyways, I figured this thread might be helpful for people who have trouble finding beta testers. I know when I was in the beta-stages for Exorbis, it was hard finding people to really play it through to find all the little bugs and glitches (kudos to Bezman though :D ).

Maybe to get the ball rolling I could ask people to take a look at this. For some reason it doesn't work after loading, you need to press refresh once the grid shows. I'm working on that :p It's a puzzle game, go crazy. I know it's fugly at the moment, but I'm wondering how I could expand the gameplay to something unique?

F1-F12 should work as I programmed them in; they work for me. F10 doesn't, however, as 'this key is reserved' (for selecting the top-left menu in your browser).

Beans! I liked that puzzle. The snapping was good.

FKeys don't work in web browsers, only in the standalone player. You might have to change your key setting if you want to put your game on NG.

Refer to picture (taken from my browser). F-keys work with my browser (Firefox), except F10. Make sure the Flash has focus.

I probably won't be submitting this, it isn't a game and isn't very interesting.
