Yeah, it is illegal in britain but you can get away with smoking it just about anywhere. Growing would get you in trouble if you were caught. If you never carry much, you won't get busted. You'll just have it taken from you and a warning given.
I was smoking weed with a volunteer police woman on Saturday. She was talking about how the cops had busted someone then smoked the weed themselves. Or, I think that's what she said, but I was extremely high so I don't really remember much of what was said.

That's bullshit. I wouldn'tve gotten busted. Cultivation is illegal. If you have a medical marijuana card, it's not illegal in California, but if you don't, it's illegal. It's even a felony to grow, sell, or harvest the plant.

Usage isn't a crime, but possession is, though a misdemeanor, and if they catch you smoking it, they'll write you up for possession. And if you're driving after smoking herb, it's DUI.
