Right I'm not new to music production as I've made a shitload of D'n'B on CD and played them down local nightclubs with a positive reception. but what I want to know is what programs are people using to produce their music as I've been using Music 2000 on the PS1 (I hear you laugh but it's more in depth than you think) and I've had great results... but I'm looking for a PC program that can offer the simplicity of Music 2000 but with greater result, any sugestions?
out of sheer curiosity, how did you get the songs from the PS1, onto your PC?
To answer your question, I use Fruity Loops.
Music 2000 was very good. Before i took up guitar i would spend hours making songs on it. I would recommend using Fruity Loops.

Very easy to learn... of course you have to give yourself some time to familiarise with the program, has a very "user freindly interface". Blah blah blah
