Another way to get EXP!

A lot of people ask, can I get exp points any other way except for voting? Since we disabled the referral system when you create a new user account, we thought the answer was no. We had to disable this feature because people were making fake accounts and referring themselves (bastards!). However, it has come to our attention there is another referral system that is still active! This happens when you referr a Flash artist to submit to the portal. This is how it works. When a movie has 50 votes it checks the score 2.0 gives 5 points, 3.0 gives 10 points, and 4.0 gives 20 points to the person the submitter listed as their referrer. So if you want more EXP you should go search out good Flash artists that haven't submitted to Newgrounds and get them to submit their FLash and be sure to put your user name in as their referrer. Or if you upload Flash work you could referr your friend or whatever.

HOWEVER, BE WARNED. Anyone who attempts to referr themselves by uploading STOLEN FLASH content from their account or a fake account will be punished! I WILL track you down! I WILL wipe you out! So don't try it!

Hey Wade, please clarify this: are the 5, 10, or 20 points a one-time bonus only? Or are they valid for every time a person, refered to NG by you, submits a good flash piece?

For example, if a user refers a great flash artist, and this artists was to submit a daily feature every week, would the user get an additional 20 points each week? Or only 20 points once for his first movie? AND, is there a limit to how much you can cash in off your refered-buddies' success?

The way it stands the system is coded so you would get 20 every week, as long as the artist you refer keeps producing good flash and keeps putting you as the referer.

But me and Ross may need to go back to the drawing board cause Doomhamer may have a good point. But that would sorta punish the users that don't submit flash. I dunno.

How would that be punishment? In no way would I look at that as a punishment. Granted I have subbmitted Flash, that's not all that. But I would not see it as punishment being a flasher or a fan of flash.

Ok, I am only a newbie who has made some crappy flash games so far, and I haven't been here for long, but I feel like I should comment, although I know I don't have any status or anything, maybe the fact that my comments make sense will accomplish something. Susanowoo, I am not advocating racism - I am a minority and have suffered my fair share of racist attitudes directed at me - but I do advocate the right of people to freedom of speech. I do not believe there is excessive racism at newgrounds, I haven't seen it, but even if there is that is not give the right to censor people's creative work. If you find the site or the flash movies here offensive, then you should accept responsiblity for your own actions - coming to the site and watching the movies - instead of trying to monitor the responsibilities of others - the site's creators and other users. They are responsible for what they make, but only you can be responsible for choosing to patronize the site. Their behavior is not yours to dictate, only yours is. So while you have the right to voice your opinion, you can't force change in their behavior. Better to try and contribute your message of anti-racism in a positive fashion than to lay blame and make people angry with your point of view. That is my opinion.

Oh, and Mr. Wade, since I am posting on your thread anyways I will make a comment on topic, I think that the referral system is really good, and giving another way to earn xp will make people pay more attention to the referral of other users. But I am curious about one question, does it matter if the person doesn't make flash who referred you? My brother is the one who showed me the site, he doesn't have any interest in flash programming because it is not his kind of thing, but if I get good enough that my movies and games earn good votes and I put his name then he will gain xp?

Also, I am having trouble earning xp on my own, I have been voting for two days but when I click to deposit my xp for voting then I always get an error that says I haven't voted or don't have cookies. I have voted, and I do have cookies enabled, so why do I not get my xp? I was just curious, it's not a big deal to me. I am more interested in making good flash games and movies than in earning xp for voting on others work, but still I wondered. Thanks!
